Don't be stupid! I'm not saying you should throw or troll in social/comp matchmaking. that's awful. I do not condone people like this at all. This guide is made purely for the edification of new players who may not understand whats happening to them in MM.

After receiving your most recent cooldown your xbl account will have a timer running on it that counts down from 24 hours. So try not to disconnect again within 24 hours of your last ban or you will continue raking in longer and longer cooldowns.

These are handed out automatically, and theres no way to appeal. They use the escalating cooldown system explained above.

TEAMKILL THRESHOLD:
Betraying 3 teammates in a single match the game will offer the most recent betrayed player the option to kick you. If you kill 2 or 3 in quick succession it may offer all 3 betrayed allies the chance to kick.

TEAM DAMAGE THRESHOLD:
There is an invisible team damage dealt threshold in some (or all) of the games in the collection. Once you've done too much damage to teammates the game will give the kick option to the next person you betray. Whether or not they were your third or even second betrayal of the match. If you get kicked after one measly TK it's likely because you've already done a lot of damage during the match.

MERCY RULE
If your teammate decides to forgive you and not kick you will not receive a cooldown. note: there is no mercy rule for Halo: CE

LEAVING:
Intentionally leaving most types of matches will see you with a ban (this includes disconnecting!). Some game-types are exempt however! this includes both FFA playlists (8 player slayer/OBJ, and 12 player infection) all firefight playlists, 1v1 playlist, and any custom games.

E.A.C. MIS-VERIFICATION:
Essentially the same as a disconnect, and its probably counted as a "disconnect". This may happen if you're going to load into a map that you have be missing in the files or have an altered version of. Lots of other things can set it off too, but it'd be too much to fill up here.

50% RULE
You're exempt from auto-bans for leaving if a complete 50% of your team has left.
example: 1v2 2v4 4v8



Handed out by MS/343i employees who are assigned at reviewing your reports from other players. These do NOT use the escalating cooldown system. The length of ban is usually a 2 week minimum (from what i can tell from the MCC steam forums)

WRONGTHINK:
Passed a certain threshold of reports received for: Possibly being too edgy or toxic, mic-spamming, or generally making someone angry enough that they report you for toxicity. sad!

CHEATING:
Passed a certain threshold of reports received for: Using aim hacks, wall hacks, trigger bots or whatever other kind of hack that gives the player an advantage. This is almost certainly also handed out automatically by E.A.C. So don't cheat!

SERIAL AFK-ING:
Passed a certain threshold of reports received for: Being AFK in multiple matches to glean the meagre XP. Please don't be that loser.... go enjoy the game and play!

SERIAL SUICIDING:
Passed a certain threshold of reports received for: Suiciding purposefully to lower your team's score in slayer based modes.

SERIAL GRIEFING:
Passed a certain threshold of reports received for: Destroying your team's vehicles, body blocking, team damaging constantly (but not killing, so as to not get kicked but still have the pleasure of griefing all game), making it harder for your team to cap the OBJ (i.e. throwing the skull somewhere your team cat get it when you capture it), and basically anything else people feel like reporting you for really.

BOOSTING COMP RANK:
Passed a certain threshold of reports received for: Doing the thing where you purposefully try to queue up at the same time as another 4 stack to manipulate your comp rank.


There's probably even more stuff they'll ban you for. Their ToS is vague like all other big tech companies.

Don't believe me? Go to options, settings, accessibility tab, and turn on "voice to text". Now go play a match (or sit in the menu) with someone who has a mic.
