Pipelines

Beskrivning
Pipeline blocks allow the connection of cargo systems over long distances.

Massive thanks to enenra for the pipeline models!

Setup
The theme of this mod is "minimal player help". Its left to the player to engineer pipelines efficiently.

- You can toggle helpful build visuals with /pipeline toggle.
- Pipelines can be turned on/off with the "Show In Terminal" control.

  1. Place a "Pipeline Hub" block on a static grid, anchored in voxel.
  2. The arrows on the Pipeline Hub indicate the direction of flow. The next pipeline in the chain should follow the direction
  3. Travel some distance forward, build another static grid and place another Pipeline Hub. There is a 10 degree tolerance, so the two pipeline blocks don't need to perfectly line up
  4. Repeat until you build your full network
  5. Any cargo inside a Pipeline Cargo will be shunted forward, after a small delay (~ 1 second)

Build Rules
  • All pipeline cargo blocks must be STATIC
  • Pipelines will not connect to another pipeline block on the same grid / subgrid
  • Pipeline hub blocks DO NOT need power
  • Pipeline hub blocks DO need line of sight to the next block in the chain. This is blocked by voxels (but not grids)
  • Maximum connection distance is 1km

FAQ
Q: What happens if a pipeline block in the chain is destroyed?
A: Material will build up in the network, until it is no longer functional

Q: Can I branch a pipeline network?
A: Yes, with sorter blocks at the relevant node. The sorter should pull out cargo before it gets passed on

@JamailiKamali - There is a republished mod of this that does that. I've been using it for around close to a week. Its made by Crowiger, steam workshop link

Remnant - that's an excellent suggestion as I've had similar issues. Other thought would be ability to tag the hub name like "Pipeline Hub [PL D]" where it would connect to the nearest hub with the same PL x tag.

Any chance this could be made to priorities which hub they connect to via colour coding? for example if you have 2 pipelines running alongside each other, the yellow hub would connect to the closest yellow hub while the red one connectors to the closest red hub instead, so we don't get crossed pipes that need to be fixed every server reload

Aye we'd used power lines before too on a private server but it regularly disconnected itself.
I'm currently making a 48~km pipeline 100m power line poles would take all week xP
It's just that we've a fusion reactor (IOverhaul) and it's to connect an oil rig. I'm just setting up a two way pipe system and I can send Ice or fuel oil back to the rig and run it off hydrogen or Petrol.

In the past, I've used this mod to transmit power alongside it, though it doesn't stretch as fare as the pipelines do... (Basically make a small island every so often with a power cable pylon and a pipelines receiver.)

Very sorry if I'm being dense here, I didn't find an answer from the last few pages. To 100% check, power won't transfer across pipelines?

Will this also transport gases, or just blocks? Just wondering if I can make a hydrogen refinery at my ice mining site, or if I need to refine it at my main base.

Hello, would it be possible to remove the pipeline block from the Large Block category? Keen changed categories last update, and now we have a solitary "Large Block" category with just the pipeline block in it :))
