Description
Updated version of https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2130581427 which has significantly more changes.

This mod only affects retainers in the vanilla game and ROTS campaign. I don't have FOTS so i'm afraid this mod is no good for that game. In theory, this mod should not require any DLC but not tested that theory as i have all but FOTS.

This mod changes the stats received from retainers granted to agents and generals when they level up for both player and AI. The vanilla version of the game mostly only granted x1 of an ability stat increase, many of these were exactly the same too as each other.

This mod now provides x2 or x3 ability increases for all retainers for agents and generals. Daimyo's however now gain up to x3 ability increase from retainers as they gain access to unique retainers and are clan leaders so I felt they should be stronger than regular generals. You should now feel that daimyo's are noticeably better than basic generals. Standard generals can gain retainers with x3 abilities, these are all the geisha retainers only. The values added in no way break the game I feel, it just adds a little more potency to generals and more so to daimyo's.

A total of 23 custom effects have been added to add the feeling of variety to the retainer pool.

These only apply to units within the generals army that include...

Ashigaru armour bonus
Ashigaru melee defence bonus
Ashigaru melee attack bonus
Bow unit melee defence bonus (Note this particular buff only applies to vanilla bow units as it specifies the units names so any added units from mods will not benefit)
Cavalry armour bonus (Note this also apples to the generals bodyguards too, as they are cavalry)
Cavalry melee defence bonus
Cavalry melee attack bonus
Cavalry moral bonus
Musket unit accuracy bonus (Note this particular buff only applies to vanilla musket units as it specifies the units names so any added units from mods will not benefit)
Samurai armour bonus
Samurai melee defence bonus
Samurai melee attack bonus
Samurai moral bonus
Naval ship moral bonus
Spear unit melee attack bonus (Note this particular buff only applies to vanilla spear units as it specifies the units names, just like the vanilla spear unit melee defence bonus does so any added units from mods will not benefit)
Special armour bonus (Special units are monk, ninja and siege units)
Special melee defence bonus
Special melee attack bonus
Special moral bonus
Sword unit melee defence bonus (Note this particular buff only applies to vanilla sword units as it specifies the units names, just like the vanilla sword unit melee attack bonus does so any added units from mods will not benefit)
Land unit upkeep cost bonus
Naval unit upkeep cost bonus
Maximum ammunition for siege bonus (Note this is the only custom effect that benefits all units, not just the ones in the generals army)

You may have noticed the vanilla game has master and legendary retainers of the same retainer. Because of this, I mostly made legendary retainers twice as beneficial as it master level counterpart as legendary retainers only appear as your last retainer.

I have personally tested these changes and can confirm they work, even the changes that are vanilla but appear in the FOTS campaign. I only included the DLC effects that also affect vanilla and ROTS units.

There are simply too many changes to list, however many screen shots have been added to give you an idea of what to expect. Many retainers are better than others, some will feel like you really don't care for them but this was intentional to give players a realistic RNG feel to the game. All retainers with negative attributes towards the player have been adjusted to be positive. You should now never be worse off with a retainer.

I remember asking on the comments of that mod and someone said they aren't compatible?

Also, it's good to know that few have x3 stats, by the pictures i wouldn't knew better. I thought at first that you had changed the design of the mod to make so all had 3x stats. I apreciate the moderation on this new design.

@CyborGnome The only retainers that grant x3 stats are daimyo's specific retainers so they can be a cut above the generals. The geisha retainers are also x3, which are general specific only but they are in no way OP and are in no way better than the daimyo's retainers.

@CyborGnome I'm not sure what you're asking me to make, sorry. The only FOTS codes I have included here are more ammo for units in the generals army, armour for all units in the generals army and gun reload times. All these are compatible with standard vanilla as they affect unit types, not specific units so the will work, even on modded units. I have tested them myself too.

If only i knew sooner!

I was a fan of Improved Retainer Stats (Vanilla), but i had my problems with the FOTS parts of the code - like i said on my comment-, since i don't like and don't have FOTS, i couldn't enjoy it.

But i must say that i liked Improved Retainer Stats (Vanilla) more, because it only gave two instead of three ability increases.

More fair and balanced, i think.

And i must ask, could you make such version?
