The Tank was Desgined to Replace the Aging and Obsolete M60 and M48 Tanks which were still in Service at the Time, And Were Desgined to be the Best Tank Possible at the Time Devolped from the Kpz 70 or the Mbt 70 the M1A1 Abrams was Armed with the 120 mm L/44 M256A1 smoothbore gun, The Abrams remained untested in combat until the Persian Gulf War in 1991 Today the Abrams is still in use by the US Army and is one of the Most Iconic American tanks of Today...

The Abrams has Poor Side Armor but makes up with its Very Good Frontal Armor being able to Last Longer in Frontal Combat than it's Rival the T-80 tank and has 3 settings like the T-80...
