On a sidenote and without offense,
The "Das Lied der Deutschen" with it's three stanzas predates the Weimar Republic.
And opposing common belief the 1st Stanza is not forbidden or banned from being cited or sang in germany.
But for reasons known it doesn't stand well with the people.
The 2nd Stanza is (to my knowledge) rather widely unknown and I've never heard it sang aside from a record of the whole Lied.
1st & 2nd are not part of the national anthem.
Only the 3rd is considered the german national anthem.
And just for the record, the band Rammstein, clearly and on many ocassion distanced themself from any and all third reich ideologies and mindsets.
