Game objectives
The objective of the game is to:
  • Complete all 47'986 towns
  • Complete all 167'374 businesses

There are several ways to track your progress within the game. First, you can use the M button at the top of the screen:

It will open the status screen which shows your current overall progress, as well as the status for the country you moved your moure cursor to. In the screen below, I have highlighted UK so the statistics you see is the progress of the United Kingdom in that game.

Note that the "Earth" progress on the top right is only showing countries that you have completed at 100%. So if you have "only" completed 99% of the largest country, it will not count.

Independently of the countries, you can also see the overall amount of towns or businesses that you have completed. At the top of the screen, you have probably noticed these 2 numbers:

The number to the left is the total amount of businesses you have already completed. The number on the right is the total amount of towns you have completed.
Additionally, below the right number you see two additional numbers: they correspond to:
  • The number of (R)oadsyou have repaired. Only broken roads initially placed in the game count, not the ones you decided to upgrade on your own
  • The number of (I)ndustriesyou have fully upgraded to level 3. Only industries initially placed in the game count, not the ones you have created

If you move your mouse over this area with the number, you will notice that the numbers change, as follow:

Those values are the maximum number you can reach if you complete everything (compelte all towns and businesses, repair all roads, upgrade all industries).
Icons on the map
Let's have a look at the map when you zoom in, and try to understand the different icons. Here is a sample of the London area:

The icon colors are very important, that's how you recognize the different parts of the game:
  • The many gray icons : they represent the businesses that you need to complete
  • The blue icons: they are the towns that you need to complete
  • The yellow icons: they are the towns that you have already completed
  • The green icons: they indicate the presence of an industry
  • The purple icons (center of the picture just below "London") indicate that these locations can be accessed by trains. They may or may not be also accessible by the trucks
Truck limits
(section under construction)

There are several limits on the number of trucks you can have. At the beginning of the game they will limit your progress, but those limits can be increased during the game and you will soon be able to have way more trucks than you can manage.

Number of trucks you can buy at each truck shop
This information is provided in the shop panel.
The number of trucks you can own from a specific shop is the second number displayed in the shop panel.
This number can be increased up to the value indicated by the third number. It increases by 1 every 10 towns you complete in the same country as the shop.
As for the first number, it's the number of trucks you currently own.
In the example below from a shop in Chile, the player:
  • Owns 1 truck from that shop
  • Could buy 2 more (up to 3) trucks from that shop
  • Could increase that limit of 3 up to 5 by completing 20 towns in that country (Chile)
  • Note: although the player could buy 2 more trucks, the buy option is disabled because of the active truck limit explained in the next section (that's why the "Warning: Maximum Vehicles Reached" is displayed right under the name of the truck shop

Number of active trucks
The number of active trucks you have / can have at any time is displayed at the top of your truck panel. This number increases by 1 for each 1000 towns you have completed.
You can own more trucks than that if buy all possible trucks from all the shops (within the limit mentionned above), but they have to be parked for a small cost and cannot be given orders until you unpark them.
In the example below, the player has completed a little over 10000 towns and has therefore earned 10 more active truck slots than at the beginning of the game, so that number is 40. And that player has 40 active out of those 40 possible slots. The other trucks have to stay parked.

Vehicle decay
You will visually notice that your trucks (and other vehicles) decay progressively as they travel, by having a look at the state of the odometer. Here's an example of a fresh truck (on the left) and of a very used up truck (on the right).

As your trucks deteriorate, so do their speed. You trucks can become extremely slow, so if you care about your trucks because they have lots of bonuses, you may want to repair them.

You can repair them:
  • By clicking on the "..." button on the odometer, then click FIX
  • By pressing the J key (reJuvenate)

Repairing the truck will cost you money (the amount will be displayed in a popup waiting for confirmation) and time. Once you accept the repairs, your truck will become unusuable until it is fully repaired. How fast the process takes depends on how much work your other trucks are doing.

Notes:
  • You can only repair one vehicle at a time
  • The price of repairs increases every time you repair the same truck
Using pins
You can put some coloured pins on your map to highlight some locations (businesses or towns) so that they are more visible at any zoom level, as shown below:

  • You can change the pin of a location by selecting the location and clicking on the pin at the top of the location panel:

  • It will cycle through the different pins:
    • Not set
    • Red, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Light blue, Dark blue, Purple, Orange, Gray
    • Then again not set
  • To quickly change the state, it's easier to press P instead of clicking
  • To remove a pin, press O
  • To remove all the pins of the same colour as the one which is selected, press Shift + O (the game will ask for confirmation)

Additionnally, you can also define pins with 2 colours:

To do that, hold either SHIFT or CTRL (depending on which of the 2 colours you want to change) while pressig P.

The way you use the pins is very personal, but here are a few ideas of how they can be used based on my own experience:
  • One colour highlight important contract targets (the ones that are useful to unlock some parts of the game, such as granting access to new countries)
  • One colour to highlight the industries you find on the map which are not yet upgraded to level 3 (and therefore which you cannot yet build freely)
  • One colour to highlight the towns which are good for building new industries (i.e. those which are of size 3-4, can be upgraded with a train station and to which the big trucks have access)
Finding missing resources
You will often find industries that requires some input resources that you haven't yet located. The game includes a function to help you know in which country the elusive resource can be found.

  • Select a town or business that requires that resource.
  • Then mouse-over the yellow ? question mark at the right of those requirements, in the town panel.
  • It will show on a small map in which countries those resources are located.

For best results, select a town or business which has ONLY the resource you're looking for as a requirement. This way the only country that will be highlighted will be the right one.

Below is an example for locating Lemons. I selected a business (some museum in the Netherlands) which only requires lemons.

This works most of the time (a few resources don't work and are not showing on the map... not sure if that's intended or not. Including one which is often mentioned in the contracts called cultured meat).

Note: the highlighted country on the map will be yellow if you have already discovered it and started to complete some industries or towns. If you haven't set foot in that country, then it will appear in red.

I have played these games for many years and this is still a useful reference for me. Just today I needed reminding of how to remove all the pins of a type. Well done! :royalcrown:

I did not know about pins being two-colored, so even as a not-quite-newbie, this guide is very helpful.
