London to Peterborough (with guides)

Description
An empty map with guides painted on covering the area from London to Peterborough(~120km) at 1:2 scale on Megalomaniac at 1:5 map ratio. This is a very flat map (150m max elevation) so the elevations are set to 1:1. Workshop images show historic routes from www.railmaponline.com and terrain data from tangrams.github.io/heightmapper/

In order to help people with the flatness and locating tracks I loaded the map with the height set to 600m initially, then used https://en-gb.topographic-map.com/maps/b9/England/ to draw the track routes onto the map in there approx locations to act as a guide, and then reset the elevations. Feel free to erase them if you want to do it yourself.

Thames was lowered to allow for the single water elevation allowed. Tunnels are marked with abutments and dashed lines.

Note: If you want a different map size Load the map into the Editor, Export the heightmap, Exit the editor, Set the map size to the size you want and Start the Editor, Import the heightmap.

You will not have the guide marks any more but you can copy what I did to add them to your new map.

Yes the guides are there to help you place track and stations near to where they actually are for the closest match to IRL

Hi. Forgive my ignorance, but I am somewhat new to this game. I love your work on the London to Peterborough (with guides) map. What I don't quite understand is whether I should "populate" it with cities following the tracks and stations and if there is a limit to place those cities. Thanks for your response.

The guide lines for where to build the tracks are awesome, I've so far recreated Kings Cross to Hadley Wood/Bowes Park and Liverpool Street to Stratford as close to real as possible! I've tried doing it on other real maps but always end up putting tracks in slightly the wrong direction and getting confused on what is where lol

Thanks. I looked at long time for a flat England map. I have so many british locomotive mods to try and use. Steam, Diesel and Electric. And it´s nice to have a track guide. It helps to make Regional, Intercity or Intercity Express and Urban lines.
