TREKORION: Mk2 Saladin class Tr destroyer

10 slot mid to late game support vessel and escort. Literally a kitbash from the motion picture style constitution with the internals reconfigured.

At ~250 sectors from the core, the Mk2 Saladin destroyer replaced both the Loknar and Virginia class frigates for escort and resource collection duties.

Four Mk2 Saladins were constructed: the USS Saladin built in sector -36:217, and the USS Alexandria, Norfolk, and Siva, constructed in sector 36:174.

The Saladin served as fire support for the Constitution class refit at the border of Trinium space and then a dedicated escort for the Alexandria and Norfolk.

The USS Alexandria and USS Norfolk were dedicated r-mining vessels. Mining with a hull this larger presented some initial difficulties, as the vessels had difficulty hitting asteroids with low-range mining beams. If you use the Saladin as a miner, it's recommended to use only civilian turrets with a 1.5km range or greater.

The USS Siva served as a dedicated repair and salvage vessel, and was typically brought in to mop up after pirates and large Xsotan encounters.
