The Type 51 Escort Destroyer “Ceres” is a defensive warship designed to protect capital ships from FACs, Corvettes, Frigates and Destroyers. The Type 51 is heavily armed with eighteen large turrets and eight supercharged forward facing weapons. Armed mostly with large beams, Ceres is capable of reducing most attack ships to molten slag in seconds. Against more resilient foes, Ceres nine large recoilless laser cannons can unleash a withering hail of armour piercing fire.

Over twice as tough as a Coyote and sporting much heavier firepower, Ceres is a formidable opponent for Category 1 ships. It is also well equipped to deal with other ships of a similar size, but lacks any dedicated anti-fighter defence for engaging Category 0 vessels. Luckily this deficiency can be swiftly remedied by partnering the ship with a Type 42 or pair of Type 32s. Like other escort vessels, Ceres is not particularly fast, but has a strong shield with a fast recharge. Unlike the smaller Caracal and Coyote, the Type 51 is exclusively used for military action and not for use in the civilian sector.


The Single Beam Turrets will automatically engage hostile targets in range.
The Triple beam turrets will automatically engage hostile targets of AT LEAST CATEGORY 1 within range.
Laser Cannon Turrets will automatically engage a Spaceship Target of AT LEAST CATEGORY 1
Turn off Boost Thrusters (Hotkey 1) to dissipate heat a little faster.
When sitting in the pilot's chair in the CIC, the screens in front are for the forward targeting cameras, the right is for the landing camera and the left is the rear camera. The rear camera can be viewed on the screen above the console to the right.
Using the forward facing beams extensively in combat may drain the battery if the turrets are also firing. Ease off the fixed guns and switch off the boost thrusters to recover.

When you activate the yoke, there is a bit of lag, not as bad as the Coyote though.


Due to the Alpha status of Starship EVO, this ship will likely become obsolete. I may update viable designs as the game progresses.
