Thanks @bhstraub for helpful feedback! I had the same problem with later ages, will add some more plants and at least one more refinery! The distance and terrain between oil source and refinery is also maybe too challenging...

I've played into the Early Electric Age so far. The map is interesting and rewarding to play. There is a crippling shortage of diesel and electric fuel with only one refinery and two power plants provided. Once the coal fired engines drop out in the Early Electric age this shortage requires using the few $$ fueled engines and limits all but a few engines to 43 mph. There is plenty of coal on the map to supply additional power plants and enough oil to supply a second refinery. I would recommend this change to the author to make the Diesel and Electric ages more interesting. The alternative is to use the mod that permits the player to add these industries themselves or to build large wind farms to support an entire electric system.

This map is quite nice, BUT it is very hard to play because of the terrain and preexisting road network, etc. Basically, I have to blow up almost all the existing roads and demolish a bunch of building to place stations and do passenger traffic .. OR if you play that you will not demolish items, you will have to do a whole bunch of Bus/Truck traffic for all passenger routes and other city routes. The current state of bus/trucks makes that not super efficient.

I am going to give this a play through, but it looks very difficult to get a good start.
