TREKORION: Ares class Ti/Na destroyer

9 slot mid game main. Inspired by the Ares class from the Axanar fan film.

The Ares was one of the few Federation vessels built exclusively for combat. Constructed during the Four Years War as a contender to the Klingon D6, its development was controversial and nearly lead to the Vulcans exiting the Federation.

Even if its decommission had not been part of the cease fire agreement, the Ares would have been rendered obsolete by the production of Starfleet's heavy cruisers and the Klingon D7.

Built only one of these on a test galaxy, the self-titled USS Ares constructed in sector -31:309. Her armament included 4 plasma lasers, 4 point defense cannons, and three 14km range legendary bolters, for a total of 1.8k om.

The destroyer was critical in clearing the sectors that would eventually house the test galaxy's passive income, a string of 6 ice mines and water collectors in an area with a 30% price markup on water.

The Ares was lost in sector -34:286 during an assault on a pirate shipyard, where the second wave of defenders included multiple frigates armed above 10k om. At the time she was destroyed, I had accumulated enough resources to upgrade to an 11 slot heavy cruiser, and constructed that over building a new Ares destroyer.
