IMPORTANT BETA INFO
***NOTICE***
the game has changed a lot between when i made this guide and now. i currently play on the beta and there are big changes to the map, weapons, UI, content and money. i had to start the game over again and that is fine. i will update the guide once i learn the game a bit more and understand what is changing and get some new tips

HERE IS THE NEW GUIDE
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2815771896
Money
This section is the most important as it contains the tips that will help you the most.

Rightfully so we need to start with the money. in this game money is hard to come by and rather a pain to get. To be honest selling itmes does not generate much money so really i would not bother selling anything other than
  • blank artifacts: this is because they do deteriorate with time and so far i have not seen a single mission that involves them EDIT: yep i saw a mission for them. still, sell them before they turn to dust.
  • anomalies cores that are more than 36 hours old. THEY ARE YOUR MAIN SOURCE OF INCOME. DO NOT SELL THEM UNLESS THEY ARE ABOUT TO VANISH
  • garbage: empty ammo boxes sell for like $3 and i personally do not like having my base trashed. so throw out garbage you do not use or have 50 of already

the best way to make money in this game is to complete missions. when you go on a long mission chances are you will run into a lot of anomalies and they will drop there cores. so when you get back you could have 30 or more cores in your back pack. so select a mission for lets say get 2 spawn cores and accpet it. take the cores out of your backpack and deliver them and boom 400. repeat this until you no longer have any cores left.
NOTE: if no mission listed involve anomalies you can easily just sleep for an hour and abort the mission and the mission list will refresh with new missoins hopefully this time one that involves the cores you already have in your backpack.

i highly recommend NOT repairing any weapons you do not have to. i do want you to repair them frequently but not by the machine at base.
you can put the weapon in the clamp in your bedroom ( do not have to, you can also hold it if you are in the field). then spray it with WD40 and brush it with a toothbrush all over untill the black dust stops comming off. it saves you a lot in maintenance.
Weapons
Your starting pistol is honestly very nice and will get you far. however as you probably found out it is hard to fight when you have 8 shots and then need to reload. do that in vr and boy is it hard to fight while in combat.

i ALWAYS keep full clips on my belt and empty clips on my side pocket so i can refill them later. when not in combat try to keep the 4 on your belt full so you can be ready for sudden combat at any time.

2 enemies really do not require a gun. they are the spawns and fragments. or in simple the spider things and the ghost things. both of those require one hit with a knife to kill so it is easy to kill them before they hit you. for this reason i carry about 10 knives to rotate out as they get dull or rusted.

it is wise to keep your gun clean by either repairing it at base or using cleaning items while in the field. for pistols it is WD40 and a toothbrush and for riffles it is toilet paper and a cleaning rod. failure to do so for knives means they break and disappear losing you the knife and failure to clean your weapon means it will jam more often.

you can carry any primary weapon on your back and one on the left side of your backpack as well as one in each hand if you so choose so you can technically carry 4 primary weapons. but only 2 if you want to have your hands free. you can find some primary weapons in the orange or silver boxes with green lights that are in some buildings ( some buildings are not on the map BTW) or you can buy primary weapons.

your first purchase should be the headlamp. lets be real it is a light on your head and that is so much better than having only one hand.
your second purchase should be the best pistol in the game. that is the OC-33 'Pernach'
why get it?
  • holds around 20 rounds compared to other pistols that hold 8
  • accuracy is crazy good to the point you might as well snipe enemies if you are good at aiming.
  • with the red dot scope and laser you can hit even the furthest of enemies with ease.

look you will go through a lot of ammo. take some boxes with you they only take up 1/3 a pound of weight.

the best riffle i have found so far was the SKS rifle
the pros are obvious
  • 10 shots per mag
  • A BAYONETT. yes you can take your hand and flip it around and it works like a knife. the knife will never dull and with that kind of range it makes killing any enemy easy as pie!
  • the scope is 3.5X and easy to use. TBH i have to sit down IRL to get the scope just right
  • NOTE: it does take a few shots to take down most enemies. so do not expect an instant kill with it.
anomalies
The most common thing that can hurt you is the anomalies

First is the Distortion. only the gas vent in the center can be seen unless you throw a probe into it then it becomes clear as day. avoid them, being inside causes you to lose health crazy fast. i always throw probes infront of me whenever moving to detect these and other anomalies.

Second is Reflector. very obvious and easy to spot. they look like the distortion but always viable and making noize and pulsating. if you get inside them they will hurt you and push you out quickly. DO NOT THROW A PROBE INTO THEM. be careful as anything you throw into them they will throw out much quicker and hurt you. so no shooting or throwing stuff into them.

Third is Sigil. they are sometimes hard to spot but are large dark rings about 10M across. when you step into them you slow down and hear a scream alerting nearby enemies to your location. they do not hurt you but you should avoid them all the same because you might not like what it attracts.

Fourth is Shock: you can hear them but not see them by their electric noises. using a probe near them will zap the probe making it clear you should not go that way. it will hurt you.

Fiftieth is Haze. look it is a big green cloud that hurts you when inside it. it follows a pattern and can move through buildings so just do not go near it and get out of it's way.

Sixth Web. the MOST annoying one. Webs are mostly found in forest areas. they are large dark strands hovering about knee height to a few feet above your head just sitting there. walking though it will cause a lot of damage quickly and will keep damaging you for a bit of time after leaving it. i have found that looking at it with a flash light sometimes stops it from hurting you if you are being harmed and are already outside of it. just keep your eyes open and go around it.

Seventh Grass. only really seen it on the first mission. some dark grass that when you step on it you get hurt. shine your light on it and it subsides for a bit. easy.

Eighth is Green Goo. i have only found it in the dorms. from what i can tell you do not want to shine a light on it because you get hurt. nothing more.

Nineth is Stomper. you will see the dust kicked up and clearly hear them but not see them. i have not been squashed by one yet but they clearly interact with the environment as i have seen one cause a gas tank to explode. so not really that harmful but stay out of the way.

Tenth: not even sure if this one is real. in one of the villages i was able to hear screams and something running around me. very spooky but did not harm me at all. likely just one that scares the player.

eleventh are blackballs. have not seen any official documents or notation about them anywhere but i have seen them. they exist ONLY in the castle ruins. they are about 5in across and about 2 feet off the ground black spheres. they have a small area around them like the sigil about 3 feet across on the ground. gonna be real. i have no idea what they do but shotting them does not work from what i have found and they are not attacking you so i leave them alone.

Species (enemies)
First we have Fragment. these are the most common enemies you will encounter. you will hear kind of a shriek when they see you and they will slowly walk towards you. the look like black ghosts that you can see through. one hit with a bullet or knife will kill it every time.

second we have the stronger fragment. they look like the normal fragments but much much darker. they are less common but pack a punch as it takes a few bullets to kill. normally around 5 from a pistol to cause it's body to explode then you need to stab or shot the red orb in the center once to kill it.

Third is Spawn. these spider like creatures run along the ground and jump at you. like the fragment they too have a sound cue whenever they spot you so keep your ears open. the best way i have found to deal with them is to run perpendicular to them (not towards or away from them) until they jump and when they land they will be stunned for a good 3 seconds which is enough time to shoot or stab them. one hit and they are dead so i choose stabbing.

Fourth is Mimic. these annoying ♥♥♥♥♥ like buildings and will shoot you on sight. they look like the dead army guys you see laying around. all black and move about as fast as you. will crouch or stop to shoot though. no audio cue needed as you will see and hear the bullets. i mostly found these guys at the factory at the center of the map and boy are they deadly. best tactic is to keep distance and have good aim. get too close and they can easily shoot you but far away and their aim is kind of bad. a laser on your pistol and sight helps you hit them from far away so i recommend getting those early game so you can deal with them.

Five would be Slider. they too had not much of an audio cue. they are the second most dangerous next to the Harvester. these little ♥♥♥♥♥ are tall pitch black figures that teleport great distances to get up in your face and choke you. draw fast, shoot fast, good luck.

Sixth is Harvester. this is a huge mass that partway though the game starts appearing in the center of the map. this guy is huge and appears to be a large mass of random stuff about 10M in diameter. he is surrounded by homunculi that will gladly attack you and behave like mimics except they expire over time and are easier to kill. however it does spawn an infinite amount of them so bad idea to get close. in one mission you need a picture of it so i recommend slowly getting closer until the photo is accepted and then getting out.
PRO TIPS
1) bring WD40 and a toothbrush with you any mission that is not short. guns get rusted and cleaning them will prevent jamming.

2) almost every weapon and atachment can be found in the map somewhere by default. a list can be found here
https://www.reddit.com/r/intotheradius/comments/jk6g6o/spoilersunmarked_loot_safehouse_location_share/

3) ammo does not weigh much. pack more than you need.

4) use quiet weapons when you can as being loud lets them all know where you are and they will attack you all at once.

5) headlamp is the best thing ever.

2 shotgun rounds directly to a slider kills it. Aim for center mass.

Sliders die just fine. It's a good idea to backpedal when they teleport, you'll always be just out of range - just don't back into something worse.
When in doubt, try a shotgun. It's loud but it gets the job done quick.
