I have spent some time trying out a lot of Bosco things, trying to get him to do a lot of different neat and helpful stuff.
Firstly, the Basics of Bosco, he uses the Laser pointer for commands, (Default Ctrl, or left Bumper)
he can do things like light up caves, Shoot enemies, and only on command he can shoot missiles, He will always focus enemies you have tagged with the laser first and even if you are around a corner, meaning you can use him to take out Spitballers and Leeches and other enemies while you are safely outside of their range.
Next he can launch missiles using Right click with the laser pointer which is best for taking out small pieces of terrain and larger groups of enemies.
And lastly for the basics, if you tell him to go to anything he cant interact with (Usually the ground or the walls/ceiling) he will shine a light so you can see the area around him, especially great in smaller caves when you are out of flares.

Bosco has many other useful abilities that make solo missions a lot easier or sometimes reasonably possible on harder difficulties. he can mine ore veins, bring you large resources, Build things, and a few more things!
Make sure you upgrade Bosco at his terminal just right of the equipment upgrade terminal. I missed this for the first 5 or so solo missions because i'm blind.
Last and possibly the most important thing to keep in mind is you can always use X to call Bosco back if he is doing any tasks you no longer require him doing, if he is carrying objects he will throw them at you (instead of just dropping them) which is a lot easier to grab from his hands.

Bosco's Main and more prominent abilities will be his combat abilities, He will automatically target nearby enemies and shoot them down for you,

He will always focus shooting you down from Grabbers and Cave Leeches which will save your life if you have been caught, He will generally attack targets that are nearby yourself, and tries his best to stay near you.

During Elimination its best to target the dreadnoughts with Bosco and run around shooting their weak point. He can mine red sugar off the ceiling or out of reach, but besides that he isn't Extra useful as far as I can tell except maybe shooting the cocoons with a missile to open them, which might be better saved for the dreadnoughts themselves...
In Solo it can be hard to get around the dreadnoughts when they are trying to face you and their only weak points are on their butt, Luckily Bosco will target the Dreadnoughts weak point automatically and you can technically just Juke it till he kills it if you really want to.

Bosco has his own arms, and as such his own mining methods, use the laser pointer to have him dig out ore veins that are out of reach! he can mine Gold, Nitra, Morkite, Red Sugar, and even the Dirt sections between caves!
cant reach that Morakite vein as Gunner? use Bosco! the ore bits will fall to the ground as Bosco's arms are not quite able to hold onto the smaller bits, so long as it falls in a place you can pick it up you have no worries with the high veins.
In my case they fell into this neat little bowl!
Sometimes he will get distracted by shooting bugs instead of mining veins,
so you might have to take out nearby enemies before using this effectively.

He is also able to dig through the dirt that separates the tunnels! I love to use this when i'm mining the last little bit of Nitra that I can reach or blasting the last few bugs, though as stated before he will sometimes get distracted by shooting bugs.

These are my favorites to do solo as Bosco can automatically dig out and bring you the Aquarqs and Eggs which is a lot faster than you trying to path your way there most of the time, he can also do this with any other large resource, Just use your pointer and have him dig and bring you the Aquarqs!
Once he is close, you can use X to have him toss the gems in your direction so you dont have to fight grabbing them out of his arms.
And finally, during Egg hunt you can use Bosco in the exact same way during Point extraction!

just use the pointer on the Organic material where the eggs are stored and he will mine out the eggs.

After mining the eggs he brings them to you, careful not to spawn too many waves of Bugs though!

Bosco is very important for escort missions, without Bosco you are tied to the Dozer for almost the entire mission. a key point here is that Bosco can be sent to defend the Dozer by using the laser pointer on any part of it except the treads, he will fly over and shoot bugs that are bothering it, he sadly, cannot repair it. I have noticed he sometimes does this automatically so if you are off getting a Secondary or mining gold don't stress to much if you don't have line of sight on the Dozer
When he is sent to defend you will see a blue outline on the Dozer through walls for a few seconds.
Secondly, Bosco can also be sent to mine oil veins that are high up, dropping squares you can pick up with the canisters!
this is very useful as there is often an out of reach oil vein above the Dozer you cant reach with the laser, just send Bosco and suck up the droppings! What a good bot.

I filled the other canister while he was mining the one vein,
The only bit left is just around the corner
so now I don't have to go find a whole new vein, Yay!

Sadly, Bosco cannot pick up or carry the Fuel canisters.
He can pick up the Hearthstone though!

Lastly, once you reach the Hearthstone there is one more important thing Bosco can do besides kill bugs on the Dozer, While he is not very useful for the flying rocks, he is good at taking out the Crystal Pylons that shoot the Dozer with Lazers, just whip out the pointer and use it on the Pylons, He will mine where you point to so to take them out the fastest have him mine the tip as this will stop the Pylon in one hit from Bosco, you can also use the missiles for a faster result if you are in a hurry to have him shoot bugs again.

Bosco can build pipes, this is super useful to use while you are laying down the pipes for the next pump jack as he will finish the previous pipe for you. Just use the pointer to direct Bosco to the pipe with the Wrench Icon on the top and he will build along the entire pipe till the end.

He can also repair the pipes! i highly recommend you have him repair while you fight off the bugs or have him repair the farther segments while you repair the close ones.

Bosco is a lot less useful in these missions, mainly just an extra gun, however there are a few things he is great at outside of that! he can bring you the hacking nodes, and can be set to defend the hacking pod once it has started!


















Bosco is unable to carry the Data Rack from the rack or after it has been taken off and will instead just light it up waiting for you to do all the work.

Sadly Bosco is not always helpful during secondary objectives, he cant do anything with fossils, Apoca blooms, EboNuts, or Boolo caps, He can kill fester flees, bring you opened Gunk seeds, and mine gemstones for you.

Using Bosco to kill fester flees is amazing when you are playing solo as Gunner or Driller especially, just use your pointer on the fester flees and Bosco will follow it around shooting it till its dead. I believe he will return if the flee runs off too far away but i have not had a problem with that as he will usually kill the flees before that happens.
Or to save time you can use Right click to insta kill the flee with a rocket.

As stated before, Bosco can also bring large objects to you, which includes Gunk seeds, Bitter Gems, Large Gold Chunks, Aquarqs, Error Cubes, and especially useful is he can mine and bring you batteries! no need to throw it up cliffs to get it to the chest, just have Bosco go over and pick it up!








And of course, when something is out of reach Bosco is always there to help!













You can press X to recall Bosco, and if he is floating around holding something you can also have him toss it to you with X as well, Extremely helpful when you need him to go back to combat or go retrieve another large object!

Bosco is incredibly useful during Lithophage outbreaks too! He can be used to suck up LithoFoamer foam so you can focus on spreading that sweet white goo all over the place while Bosco cleans up after you without a problem!

















Bosco is also useful for bringing you tools that are out of reach in case you threw them off of the edge.

Bosco is pretty useless when it comes to Salvage missions, he cant Repair the mini mules, he cant repair the uplink or the fuel canisters, and he cant bring you some secondary objectives, the only thing he can do is bring you the Mini Mule legs which in of it self is pretty useful (Especially when you toss them down a big cliff on accident)

Bosco cant do a lot, Mainly when it comes to Secondary Objectives,
When it comes to Gunk seed pods, you are left alone to shoot them down, and if you are fast enough you can tag the falling gunk seed for Bosco to pick up in case it rolls off around a corner,

If you are playing Miner and you are trying to mine through a wall to a specific spot you can still use Bosco to light the spot and toggle your laser pointer to see Bosco through walls. Fossils and Flowers are not physical objects and sadly cannot be broken off the walls, they have a tendency to generate on the ceiling, often in places you cannot reach without a lot of platforms, zip line, or a grapple gun, and if you are playing miner your best bet is to mine through the wall. (Use Bosco to see where you want to end up)

I personally believe Bosco should be able to repair the Mini Mule, Uplink unit, Fuel cells, and even bring you Fossils and Flowers, and even break open (and grab from the pod) the gunk seeds.
I understand having Bosco do everything can be a bit boring, but at least with the Fossils and flowers you are not stuck unable to finish the secondary if you play driller or Engineer who have a harder time traversing the ceiling. but until this is changed, and you play solo driller/engineer prepare to miss out on some secondary objectives.
