You can actually send BOSCO to mine the tip of the beamers, so you don't have to.
Just aim your trusty pointer at the tip of the beamer and left click.
You can also shoot rockets to the tips using right click instead (thanks BlindLight98 for the info).

You can also make it protect the Drilldozer by pointing and left clicking over it. You will know BOSCO is protecting it by looking at the red shield icon on the bottom left.

I would just have Bosco shoot the beamer tips with rockets, didn't know you could order him to destroy them tho
