[WotC] Research Rework

Beskrivning
Features

Research Rework adds a new resource to XCOM 2's teching system, the Insight. Every time you complete an alien autopsy, you also gain an Insight into the alien's technology and physiology.

Main tree techs like Magnetic Weapons and Powered Armor now also cost Insights. Rushing weapons and armour and skipping out on all the fun gear is no longer the optimal path: you need to study your enemy before you can figure out how to fight it.

You choose which autopsies you do, and mod-added autopsies count! The mod is also fully configurable, so you can change how many Insights you need for each tech and add in support for any autopsies I haven't added by default.

By default you'll need:
  • 1 Insight for Magnetic Weapons
  • 1 Insight for Gauss Weapons
  • 1 Insight for Plated Armor
  • 1 Insight for Alien Encryption
  • 3 Insights for Elerium
  • 3 Insights for Plasma Rifle
  • 1 Insight for Heavy Plasma
  • 1 Insight for Plasma Sniper
  • 1 Insight for Alloy Cannon
  • 3 Insights for Powered Armor
-but you can change all of that in the config files if you want to.

Mods Supported By Default

Requirements
Community Highlander: this is needed to make Insights display on the research screen.

Compatibility
This mod should be installed on a new campaign: if you install it mid-campaign, you won't receive Insights retroactively. If you want to try it anyway, you can add the missing Insights with the 'additem Insight 1' console command.

This mod may be incompatible with anything that overhauls autopsy rewards.

Compatible with Better Labs.

Credits
dotvhs for the custom Insight icon. No more reusing the ADVENT datapad!
RustyDios for his huge contributions to the default config. There'd be nowhere near as many mods supported by default without his work.

Acknowledgements
Iridar and Xymanek for their help on the modding Discord
DerBK for the scripts in ABB I referenced to make the UI display work

I was hoping that if I installed this mod, I could just reduce the research time if I researched a bunch of corpses to the point that magnetic weapons will only take less than 10 days as a result.

@Lago Does this mod prevent automatic autopsies?

We are Bloodborne now

Just wanted to add more mod autopsies to the list, IF you need to update again for whatever reason. Bio Division as well?

It's all in a config file, so it's pretty easy to add them yourself. Updating resets everyone's configs, so I'd rather avoid that if I'm not doing something vital.

If you update this again could you include the Pathfinders for autopsy?
Thalioden 3 feb, 2021 @ 21:56
No, better labs does not rebate insight costs

As for Insight costs, as long as you have enough autopsies, you should be fine raising it as high as you want.

No idea, but it shouldn't.

Does Better Labs provide rebates on Insight? I'd like to use Better Labs but I want to keep the Insight costs the same (I also boosted some costs to more than 3, if that might make a difference)
