Description
With more than enough supplies for the trip home, you take a slight detour along your route through the badlands - searching for Hement site. A weapons development facility from before the war.

-
Dead Heat is a short, point-to-point map based on balancing scavenging for useful supplies, with progressing toward your eventual goal. The infected will quickly grow overwhelming, but can you afford not being thorough?

This is the second map, of the second chapter of the Wings of the Phoenix campaign.
Chapter 2, "Retrograde" is on INDEFINITE HIATUS, pending the later half of the map editor update materializing, and my burnout lifting. It would have included:
Map 1 - "Slim Pickings" - Has been made
Map 2 - "Dead Heat" - This one right here
Map 3 - "Cracking the Crypt"
Map 4 - "Grave Robbing"
Map 5 - "Dunes of the Damned

Which can be found in one of two places:
The Wings of the Phoenix collection, which includes every map in the campaign including variants, available below:
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1626503635

As well as the Wings of the Phoenix chapter 2 collection, which will include only the 5 maps in chapter 2 (no variants), available below:
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2221219191

Though the campaign is on hiatus, I have written up a complete overview of where the story was going, and how it was going to end; this goes over every planned map and major story beat. This is all available in a guide located here: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2573566249
If you want some sense of closure, that guide exists to serve that purpose. I am sorry that my work ceased here, but I hope providing the guide makes up for that in some small way.

Somehow your scenario looks more like official campaign than the official campaign we have... Good job.

I hope you can get your stuff going again soon. Best of luck to you!

I don't know why all my hardware decided the last months or so that now is the time to fail, but thats been life recently. Feel like I'm running on fumes in general, and tech issues aren't helping. Work on WotP has been crawling on. Going to try and knuckle down and get Cracking the Crypt out once I'm on a computer that can run the game again.

As it feels like I'm only ever posting about delays, I will say: I'm not going to delay forever. If there comes a point where I determine that finishing WotP isn't going to happen, I'll announce such. Leaving you in the dark would be bs. Plus I'd add a note about it in each maps' listing. I would also release my campaign synopsis.

This month I was mostly burnt out for reasons unrelated to WotP, and December became void of the energy I'd use to do anything productive in regards to WotP. One of those distractions is out of the way, which will hopefully allow me to dedicate more time to WotP.

History dictates that I'm awful at deadlines, so I'll merely say that I still intend to finish WotP. Priorities, and time, have merely been elsewhere lately.

It's funny

Between a hard drive failure, NaNoWriMo, and the first half of the editor update dropping my free time got eaten away. CTC will likely be pushed back to next month. I know I don't exactly have a good track record with hitting deadlines at this point. But its not as if I want to put 'coming when its ready' at the end of the maps. Maybe that would be better going forward though.

Sorry for the delay, October turned out not to be a very productive month for me. Ideally, with this kind of delay I'd be busting out something complex, but Dead Heat was always going to be a short map. To pull back the curtain a little for what to expect for the next maps in case this happens again:
Cracking the Crypt - Longer than Dead Heat, a bit more involved.
Grave Robbing - Will probably play similar to, but not exactly like Slim Pickings. More narrative dense.
Dunes of the Damned - Effectively the Molding Merit of this chapter, in terms of complexity and length.
