Description
The purpose of Combat Engineers is to get you more flexibility when it comes to ground combat, and engaging other players.

This mod adds multiple new weapons and blocks, that are distinctly different in their use, or construction, than the standard items in game.

9mm Ammo:
Standard ammunition for the Pistols and SMGs. Requires no magnesium to craft, and can be built using only materials a survival kit can produce.

Semi-Auto Pistol - High damage, but slow firing. incredibly easy to craft, even from a survival kit. If you press the middle mouse button, it switches to a Burst Fire mode, speeding up the rate of fire, but reducing effective range and accuracy. Good for use at short rage (in burst fire) to Medium/Long range. (in Semi Auto)

Full Auto Pistol - A rapid firing pistol, good for close quarters. (Great in Short range)

Submachine Gun - Faster Firing than the Full Auto Pistol, and more controllable recoil. (Great at short range, decent at medium range)

Silenced SMG - Slower firing, and reduced recoil over the standard SMG, the Silenced SMG is a good, all-around weapon.

Flamethrower - Excellent close-combat weapon, with very high damage potential. The Flamethrower uses the Engineers own hydrogen fuel for it's ammunition. Bring extra bottles!

Chainsword - A Melee weapon, that is easy to make. Requires a Blade Edge as ammunition.

Railguns - Long range hand held weapons giving engineers the capability to engage in combat against large and small ships. They are effective against lightly armoured opponents (large or small grid), and can do a serious amount of damage to ground-forces as well.

Though it is long range, it is cumbersome, and aiming will require practice.
Model and Textures are Open Source. Audio for Railgun was heavily modified from open source.

Deployable Items:

Shaped Charge
Place the item on a surface you wish the charge to damage, add explosives to it's inventory, and hit Shift+F to blow it up!
It will only damage the block it's attached to, leaving surrounding blocks completely untouched!

But, you can ALSO put in girders. Girders will add a radius to the explosion, damaging multiple blocks (great for laying traps against other players!)
Finally, you can put in a Power Cell. This ignores any radius from the Girders, but applies an EMP effect, which has different effects on various items: power producers can be shut down, thrusters can be shut off OR have a thrust override applied, doors can be opened, etc..

The more of an item you put in it, the better and more potent the effect: More explosives = more damage. More Girders = bigger Radius, more power cells = better EMP chance.

You *must* ensure that at least one explosive is inside the Shaped Charge, otherwise it'll fizzle without doing any damage. Press Shift+F, and Sabotage away!



Using Keen's Pistol model, skinned with the Rifle texture. Other attributions located in the mod folder.

I had no real plans to update it. It was kind of jank at times. If someone else wants to take it up, they're more than welcome to.

@Thomas I will be adding one in my 'Shards of the Wastelands' mod, along with an autocannon and literally a rifle taped to a block.

(I wish Keens spawn item menu, had a search, grrr)

One odd thing, on one test of the railgun, the audio was completely weird, sounded like I was firing an EMP gun, crackling, and hissing, next login, it was fine.

Other two are from same author too. I guess you could maybe get original textures from there if you really want. Seems they were intended for another Keen game.

By the way, if you'd want to make simple shotgun in future, this may work: increase firerate to very high number, so single click shoots bunch of bullets at once.
use ShotsInBurst="X" in <ProjectileAmmoData> line to set number of pellets. Sadly <ReloadTime> does not make much difference. But it will still let you disable full auto-mode.
