Hello There!

This mod will help you with caravan lags :)

There is a problem with foraging bonus calculation with high Plant skill and custom races that don't need much food.
RimWorld tries to calculate new remaining caravan food every time you add or remove an item from caravan, and it takes forever.
The cause of this is gathering multiplier (0,09 per Plant skill), which calculates for every Pawn in the caravan, every time caravan content is changed, so when you have like 3-5 Pawns with high skill then the whole formula starts being a little bit slow and it lags the game.

I have looked everywhere for a permanent solution to this problem but there was nothing, so I deleted this multiplier and everything started working just fine - you will gather a little fewer berries but your caravan will stop lagging :)

- Right now mod doesn't need anything other than then core game, so you can still use it if you play vanilla.

- There are basically no problems with compatibility with other mods that I have found or that anyone reported.

- You can place this mod anywhere on the mod list.

Btw. I'm planning to find a way to restore the foraging bonus while keeping lags away, so it changes as little of the game as possible :)

np dude :) It's only needed if when forming caravan, and each time you add or remove object game lags to death - otherwise you don't need it. Good thing about it you can add and remove it as needed it won't fuck up your saves

I might need to look in to it, but I can’t promise when - probably next time I’ll come back to Rimworld :P As for now just activate and deactivate mod when needed because this calculation mostly slows everything down in super late game when you don’t even care about foraging

as a suggestion for the last bit in the description, perhaps just a flat forage amount based on plants skill. Perhaps averaged from all biome types so you don't have to calculate the biome either. If the Plants Skill idea doesn't work because you cant calculate that before hand then perhaps just a flat amount in general. Otherwise reducing the amount of food you need to bring would be sufficient.

oh wow, i was actually just about to give up looking for something like this, who knew all i had to search was "remove foraging" come to find out it eliminates lag too? fucking double win
