Description
The Pack-Mule is an amazing ship, made for gathering & hauling large amounts of resources & loot. It's designed to enable easy planetary landing on any planet (including 4G+ hostile!). I had mid-to-end game in mind when designing this ship, and wanted one that was capable of long (and safe) resource runs through hostile planets, but could also provide a strong defense & easy access to auto-miners. This ship does that perfectly!

Since this ship's designed for basic encounters with random enemies, the intent is that the shield will protect until the turrets kill them. It is not designed for space combat with other CV's, as this ship is made almost entirely from Steel. Only the cockpit is encased in Hardened Steel, so large encounters should be avoided. However, this ship will easily defend against drones, and laser/rocket shooting ground enemies.

To help preserve fuel, there are 8 thrusters tied to the "Maximum Thrust" switch in the main cockpit. 4 of them for lift & 4 for forward acceleration. Max Thrust should only be needed when the ship is heavily weighted down, or in high gravity environments.

Under Maximum Thrust in a 4.2G planet, this ship still has 170 kt of lift, which is more than the containers are capable of holding while all full. This ship will never leave you stranded, and has more than enough lift to get you out of any planet safely.

Almost all of the turrets underneath the Pack-Mule do function on the planets (Sentry Guns, Miniguns, and Cannons). These were intentionally placed underneath to provide support against any wandering enemies, when making landfall.

The cockpit is as low to the ground as possible, and there are 2 sliding shutter doors on each side of the cockpit. These doors were placed there to make it easy to set & harvest Auto-Miners. The doors will also allow you to easily snipe enemies from the cockpit, to clear out the nearby area. This works really well because while inside the cockpit, you are fully protected by the shield.

You can easily place, harvest, and remove auto-miners from within the cockpit. When harvesting auto-miners, they are tall enough that they can easily be reached while standing inside the cockpit, making this an extremely easy & safe ship to use, for large resource gathering runs. The back of the cockpit also has a boarding ramp that gives you quick access in & out, should you choose or need. I've also added several lights surrounding the cockpit, to provide great visibility in all directions.

Designed with a weight/volume environment in mind, this ship has a massive amount of storage:
- 20 Container Controllers - maxed to 320k - 6.4M Max!!!
- 2 CV Ammo Controllers - maxed to 320k
- 1 Open Storage Controller - maxed to 320k
- 1 Ore & Wood Controller - maxed to 320k
- 4 Cargo boxes

Additionally, there are a total of 36 garden plots (27 on one side & 9 on the other), T2 repair bay, all medical bays, toilet, shower, armor locker, O2 station, bed, teleporter, 3 fridges, & 2 food processors.

The Pack-Mule contains 22 XL Thrusters, for maximum lift capabilities. However, with all of that power, it does mean this ship requires an Advanced Core, or CPU requirements disabled.

The hangar bay is intended for 1, maybe 2 ships. The intent was not to have this as a mobile base with many ships docked. However, it's certainly capable of long hauls, should you choose.

Do you play with CPU restrictions on, or are unable to get an Advanced Core? No problem! Check out this T4 CPU compliant version:
