Description
I think overpowered thralls is one of the things that need some serious balancing in this game.

They basically take all the challenge out of combat because they can solo bosses and groups of enemies.

It makes you feel like a minion who's hiding behind their backs and attacking enemies while your thrall is tanking them.

I decided to change it so I created this mod to make the game more challenging and fun.

T1 - T3 Thrall Health reduced by 50%.
T1 - T3 Thrall Damage reduced by 75%.

T4 - T5 Thrall Health reduced by 50%.
T4 - T5 Thrall Damage reduced by 90%.

I recommend to increase NPC damage or NPC damage taken multipliers to increase thrall damage and make them even less tanky.

Combat settings I use on my PvE server with this mod:

PlayerDamageMultiplier = 1.0

PlayerDamageTakenMultiplier = 0.5

NPCDamageMultiplier = 4

BuildingDamageMultiplier = 0.5

These settings will make thralls deal a decent amount of damage and they won't be damage sponges anymore so you will need to put effort into keeping them alive. I recommend to lower follower Attack and Chase Distance to 5m - 10m and use Guard Me option. You can also use Stop and Return follower commands. This will help you to manage them in fights more easily.

The mod was not updated after Age of Sorcery launched so it should not work properly. However, you can adjust your server setting to achieve the desired difficulty.

Here are the settings I'm using on my server after the Age of Sorcery update dropped:

Experience: 0.3x (this is optional but the sooner you get to max level, the easier the game gets)
Player Damage Taken Multiplier: 0.5
NPC Damage Multiplier: 4
Follower Damage Multiplier: 0.3

These settings are recommended for at least 2 player group since even the best max level thralls won't be able to tank hardest bosses solo.

I recommend these settings for solo players:

Experience: 0.3x
Player Damage Taken Multiplier: 1
NPC Damage Multiplier: 2
Follower Damage Multiplier: 0.6

oh, also... if I try to use the mod, and after some time I decide to take it out of my load?.. what will happen? I mean damage just get modified back, right? but what about HP, it just jumps back to default on thralls?

also, what about beast pets? as far as I understand, they're not balanced here. do you think they don't need to be balanced, or you just don't use them? anyways, do you know of any mod that balances pets too? I absolutely love having pets, rather than just thralls, but they're so OP too :)

I mean, for example T4 thrall would be left with 10% of their damage. but if I do NPC x4, they're gonna have 40% of their initial, right? but all of the world enemies will have 400% of default. wouldn't that be a complete overkill, especially taking in account their lowered HP?
I mean, ofc I understand that's optional tuning up in server settings, but I'm just thinking here and trying to understand how to balance better (for me) :)

I mean, I'd love to balance my thralls from being a complete king-kong/boss health hulks (even though it's really handy, but it's a bad concept and makes you a sidekick really) to be closer to normal. but I don't really want them to die always in a brawl (I play solo, so I rely on my followers party), especially in a camp mashup or handling bosses. Like it's boring to run around and see them barely scratched when I'm running around healing from a single rhino punch... but I don't want them to be truly weak too.
and sometimes they ARE weak in terms of their damage to enemies actually (especially because they miss so often and slow in AI coordination too). so I kinda like the suggestion of upping thrall damage with multipliers! but wouldn't that also negate your initial nerf to thrall damage?

ok, thanks, good to know!

yeah, I wasn't just only worried about my char taking more damage (though NPCs already pack a punch sometimes and chars are still a glass cannon with not enough armor or HP, I'm still in mid game though and haven't ventured too far). but more on NPC damage being too high for my thralls.

Funcom is going to nerf thralls in the upcoming update and maybe the mod won't be as necessary as in these recent years.I guess we'll have to wait and see.

You can't change the mod's percentages unless you create your own mod with adjusted values.

If you don't want to increase damage to your character, then I suggest going for PlayerDamageTakenMultiplier = 0.25 instead of 0.5 or going for NPCDamageMultiplier = 2.

Is it done to balance thrall damage and allows to customize your experience with the settings you have in-game.
