Introduction
So you've made a story or a mod to an existing story and want to put it on the Workshop, well you can but there is a few things you need to know.

Dark Basic doesn't support Steam Workshop integration and any workshop items will have to be installed to Brigand manually.
This means it requires some slight agency on the part of the user to install your mod, which in 2020 can be a tough ask.

But nevertheless let's get started.
Preperation
First you'll want to structure your mod folders for easy installation. You'll want to go to your Brigand folder, the easiest way to do this is to right click on Brigand in your steam library and go to properties and local files>browse local files.

In your Brigand directory i recommend you create a folder called Workshop or something similar to use to package up your mod.

In my Workshop folder i have created a folder called the name of my mod, in this case BRIGAND - VR and inside that folder i have created 2 empty folders, Assets and Stories, to mimic the Brigand folder structure. See the picture below.

Your mods .Gam file goes into the Stories folder (BRIGAND - VR.gam) and your mods asset folder goes into your Assets folder (BRIGAND - VR)
Uploading To The Workshop
Download the free Brigand: Extras DLC from the store page if you haven't already, and go into the Extras folder in your Brigand game directory and launch SteamWUT.exe (Workshop Uploader Tool).

Fill in the details of the app as it relates to your mod.
Title: The title of your mod, as it will appear in the workshop, can still be changed in the workshop later.
Version: Current iteration of your mod, 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 etc.
Public: Whether or not your workshop item will be available to the public, i recommend leaving this unchecked, as you can make sure your mod is set up correctly in the Steam workshop first and then open it to public downloads when its ready.
Description: Description of mod as it will appear in workshop, again can be edited later through steam.
Publisher ID: I believe it relates to updating your mod at a later date, publisher ID being your Steam ID, you can ignore this for the most part.
Content Folder: The main folder that will be uploaded to the Workshop that we set up in the last section. (See picture below)
Preview Image: The image that will show up in the Workshop, again this can be edited later through steam.
Project: Saves the settings you've entered into the app as a text file, if you want to upload/update your mod again.

App ID: Application ID, the most important part. Brigand's App id is 652410. Tells the App what game it's uploading to.
You can find a games App ID by looking at it's store page URL, for example:
store(dot)steampowered(dot)com/app/652410/Brigand_Oaxaca/

When you're happy with the infomation entered click Upload.

It will prompt you to enter your steam password, enter it and hit okay.

You'll then see a command prompt start doing its thing, if you have two-factor authentication it will ask you for a Steam Guard authentication. (Don't worry as you can see from the top of the command window, its an official Steam API, developers use it all the time. You can Google "SteamWUT" if you want to read a discussion about this topic on the RWR board.
Final Words
As you can see now your mod should show up in the Brigand workshop under your workshop items (it may take a while, Steam is slow). And you can edit as you would any other workshop item.

Now you probably need to figure out how to get the average GRUG to figure out how to get your mod working.

Anticipating this i have created a info graphic that you can upload to your workshop item, explaining in the most simple terms how to install Steam mods for Brigand:

I managed to create steam page for the mod but the mod doesn't upload and the page can be set to private only. Yeah, I don't think uploading mods works anymore on Steam.

Oops, just saw this comment. I never even tried it. I'd recommend Nexus if you can't get it working: https://www.nexusmods.com/brigandoaxaca/mods/

Missed that comment. Modding guide is mostly the Builder's Manual and also the Mod Tutor story in the Community DLC.

Follow-up question, is there a modding guide for Brigand? Been trying different versions of Blender that can modify .x/,dbo files to no avail, and BOY it's frustrating

OH! I just noticed the expanded manual. Thank you.
