Shieldmaidens

Description
IMPORTANT

With the Northern Lords Flavor Pack coming out CK3 will officially support Shieldmaidens. Yay! I made this mod because that it was an important aspect to my gameplay and am very happy so many others thought the same. I still had plans and made more progress with the mod but I'm going to pause this mod for now to check out the flavor pack and how they handle the Shieldmaidens.

I had a couple ideas of how I'd like to approach this mod's future.

  • Unique Shieldmaiden events that add onto what the flavor pack does.
  • Remove the Shieldmaidens added to the flavor pack and replace with this
  • A mix of both?

Add a comment in the discussion I created for this if you guys would like me to continue this mod or have ideas of where you'd like it to go.

As a Pagan Norse leader, appoint Shieldmaidens to be your champions, commanders, and now Marshal! If you get annoyed, relieve them of their duties.

Based on CK2's Shieldmaiden trait.

  • Adds new Shieldmaiden trait for female warriors in the court of a Pagan Norse leader
  • Appoint them via a new interaction, which gives them the Shieldmaiden trait
  • Relieve them of their duties with a new interaction, which removes the Shieldmaiden trait
  • Give yourself the Shieldmaiden trait via new Decisions

Ruler (Player)

Requirements
  • North Germantic Culture Group (Danish, Norse, Norwegian, and Swedish)
  • Reformed or unreformed Ásatrú
  • Highest held title tier is a County or greater

Shieldmaiden
Replies from potential Shieldmaidens might take from 2-7 days.

Requirements
  • Adult
  • Female (kinda a given but still listing it here)
  • Prowess must be 12 or greater
  • Any of the following traits
    • Brave
    • Ambitious
    • Diligent
    • Just
    • Blademaster [any tier]
    • Hunter [any tier]
    • Gallant
    • Varangian
    • Berserker
    • Strong
    • Athletic
    • Any martial education trait
  • None of the following traits
    • Inbred
  • Courtier of the ruler

Trait
  • Martial +4
  • Prowess +6
  • Other Shieldmaiden opinion +15
  • Same faith opinion +5
  • Monthly piety gain +10%
  • Zealousness +10

Features
  • Custom trait icon
  • Historical
  • Vanilla friendly

UPDATE: Well, I had to unsubscribe to get back knights and commanders...

BUT, the two shield maidens I had recruited were still there as active champions. (They don't qualify under vanilla rules, but the shield maiden "tag" seems to have stuck).

Hi, I just tried the mod. All knights (Champions)and commanders disappeared.

Hope you can patch it, because the vanilla approach is very frustrating.

@TheLoneWanderer @DumbledoreDoor Appointing Shieldmaidens should be working as intended in the latest update. Thanks for commenting on the issue. Please note I bumped the prowess requirement up from 10 to 12.
