Cool! I look forward to seeing it in action. Glad we could help with resources. Stay tuned, we're coming out with more tilesets soon after Star Shift Rebellion comes out.

You can see in one of our early sets (Kelvana Prime) what I mean about the "spaceship construction kit" link that I posted in my last comment being used as raw material for frankenspriting (as in frankenstein). I don't have to use the technique anymore but it was the best way to get started, and learned more quickly after that.

Initially we didn't really know how. At first we started by frankenspriting, meaning you take sprites you like that are free to use (Like cc-0 licensed stuff, and CC-3 licensed stuff), and you copy and paste pieces together to make something new.

EXAMPLE:

At first I would take something like that, and then put the pieces together in a different order to make "equipment" and stuff like that for a tileset. Think outside the box.

It gets easier the more you practice because eventually you can chop-shop your own chop-shop. Meaning for future sets I already have chairs, computers, etc. as templates, and it's easier to make more, like a snowball rolling downhill.

Also you're free to use my stuff for whatever you want and you can feel free to use it as a chop shop to experiment if you want.

This is awesome and I want to ask, how did you learn how to make pretty tilesets and do pixel art? I have never been a very artistic individual and this stuff impresses me a lot. I want to learn how to pixel art but I am not sure where to start.

Thank You, yeah our stuff is often disappointment on day of release because our sets are big, but in the long run "damn very good". I think part of the problem is people don't expect it.
