[USSF] SS-1 'Eagle' Transport

In the aftermath of the Second Space Race of 2029, the United States Space Force began establishing a permanent presence on Luna, Mars, and in the Belt. To aid with this, Eagle-class starships were constructed to transport personnel and cargo.

With the first prototype constructed in early 2034, the USS Eagle, official designation StarShip-One ( SS-1/1 ), was the first true “starship” constructed by the United States. Intended for continuous and permanent usage in the vacuum of space, it represented a major step in spacecraft design advancement. Lacking the delta-V for a proper transfer orbit, the Eagle-class ships were intended for near-earth and trans-lunar operations.

While initially completely unarmed and used solely for the purposes of furthering peaceful space exploration, this policy changed with the destruction of USS Bell ( SS-1/6 ) at Earth’s L5 point in 2035 by satellites belonging to a shadowy corporation known only as NAS. After the “L5 Incident”, it was decided that future starships would be armed to deal with threats posed by the increasing number of nation-states and corporations operating assets beyond Earth’s atmosphere.
