Description
Toronto, Ontario, Canada 1:1 scale

A 1:1 map of Toronto built from the ground up using a Government of Canada topographic map and road map.

Start area is near the Brickworks on the Don River. With the 81 tiles mod you will have access to the Toronto Islands and Toronto Harbour, The Beach, Humber Bay, all the way up to the interchange at the Allen and 401. (Downsview airport is, unfortunately, just off the map. I would have had to cut off the Islands to include it.)

Most of your highway access will be from the Gardiner / DVP... interchanges have been included.

Forest resources are available in the Don Valley and along the rail corridors. Most of the area is fertile (but not fully fertile). I couldn't find any evidence of ore or oil resources in Toronto, so they will have to be imported. (Or you can paint them on with the appropriate mod.)

As far as I know, this is the only Toronto map that has all of the following:
- 1:1 scaling
- Realistic contours (not just a flat map or too jagged)
- Realistic shorelines (not cliffs straight down into the lake)
- Realistic railways including rail yards (not just a single track)
- Realistic highway interchanges (not just simple off-ramps or stock cloverleafs)
- Smooth highways with correct lanes (not just a 3-lane highway running straight through)
- Properly shaped Toronto Islands and Leslie Street Spit
- Realistic rivers and streams... as realistic as I could get with the water physics the way it is

This map was not made with playability in mind, but to be a faithful rendition of Toronto. It could provide an interesting challenge, or be used to replicate the city. This is my first map. I would be open to any suggestions or recommendations for improvement!

Absolutely. I have uploaded the road map I used for the overlay. It will be fairly low resolution due to Steam Workshop limits but should be good enough... or you could use it as a base to create a more detailed map.

Are you by chance able to share the road map yous used?

I have uploaded a new version. The Gardiner along the Lakeshore has been raised (which will facilitate underpasses) and the tracks along that section have been raised a little above that, as they should be. Making assets have different heights when they are so close together is... difficult. I also added the exit to Lakeshore from the south-bound DVP which was missing.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have a look at the railways. I might have to do a streetview tour along the Gardiner since the contour map obviously didn't pick this up.

Awesome map. I just have 1 issue and that's the railways. They should be lower than the road in some section or higher in others.
