KP Liberation Weferlingen Summer 1983

Description
Inner German Border, Central Europe 1983

The Battle of Weferlingen

The ongoing war between the NATO and the Warsaw Pact has reached a fever pitch. The Soviet Union and its allies have pushed West German forces and its allies all the way to the Rhine River! While we do have some Danish mechanized infantry and there are unconfirmed reports of American Green Berets in the area of operations, we are essentially on our own to liberate the Bundesrepublik and push into the East to reunite the two German nations. Weferlingen is where we turn the war around Soldaten!

NO MODS NEEDED - JUST GLOBAL MOBILIZATION

(Dev notes: I know there are already some Liberation missions for Global Mobilization, but none of them to my knowledge have been updated with the newest patches, arsenal items, and vehicles and this version has A LOT more attention to detail! I custom made the side objectives with GM content also so the objects are all period specific.)

- BLUFOR faction: West Germany and Denmark (playable)
- OPFOR faction: East Germany and Poland
- INDFOR faction: German guerilla troops (dynamic allegiance/non-playable)
- CIVFOR faction: East and West German civilians (non-playable)

The Experience
- A massive “Capture the Island” campaign based on a World War III scenario between NATO and the Warsaw Pact. This involves a large range of different settlements across the entire area, many of which the authors of this mission painstakingly made. All assets have been converted to fit an appropriate World War III setting in the summer of 1983 in Germany.
- Cooperate with up to 40 players, including a Commanding role, multiple fire-team squads, helicopters, paratroopers, and a logistical support squad as well as AI recruits to fill the gaps.
- Purchase both infantry and vehicles (both ground and air) using three different types of physical resources; supplies, ammunition and fuel.
- Build the FOB of your dreams with an in-game "what you see is what you get" system. Cheap objects such as sandbags are usually free but building something advanced like a concrete bunker costs supplies.
- Play within an immersive engine that not only punishes you for civilian casualties but diversely reacts in turn.
- Combat aggressive and cunning hostile forces who react and adapt to your actions.
- Monitor and work alongside, or against, independent guerrilla forces.
- Learn that every window is a threat thanks to the custom urban combat AI.
- Accomplish meaningful secondary objectives that will benefit your progression.
- Never lose your progress with the built-in server-side save system.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Side Missions
- Rescue captured West German medevac pilots from Warsaw Pact forces
- Locate and destroy hidden East German bases in the hills and mountains (radar stations, motor pools, trenches, outposts and more)
- Interdict East German supply convoys

Understanding Markers

Capitals: There are several larger or important cities in the region. When all are under friendly control, you'll most certainly have beaten back the enemy to a point where they cannot re-establish control. This is your primary objective. They are very well defended and you'll have to deal with a very high chance of enemy reinforcements or counter attacks.

Cities: Generally small to medium-sized cities.

Factories: Across the region you will find civilian factories under enemy control. Capture these, as they only need a storage area and can then produce the three resources. As such they are a very strategic first target!

Military Bases: Home to large amounts of highly equipped enemy forces, these installations are heavily defended and will require large and well co-ordinated assaults if you have any hope in capturing them. While capturing enemy bases you'll prove that your operation is progressing in a promising way, therefore you'll unlock some heavier assets.

Radio Towers (RT): When under enemy control, RTs will be used to call in reinforcements when a nearby sector is attacked by our own forces. These are actually Soviet mobile radio and radar trucks on the map. The reaction time will depend on the distance between the tower and the sector. When under friendly control, the towers will give useful map intelligence on hostile troop movements in the vicinity by intercepting their radio communications.

Why no mods?
I think mods are great, but the content is often of varying quality and the color palettes used often look really primitive when used alongside the high quality content developed by the Global Mobilzation team. Generally speaking, I think GM also has more than enough content for this scenario. Also I want to put this on my server so people can just hop in and play without having to be troubled with downloading heaps of mods and compatibility patches. I'll consider making a modded version maybe in the future with ACE, but want to get a good base for this first.

Do you plan to port this mission to Werferlingen winter in the future? I like the winter camo patterns and also really helps with my iff XD

I do not plan on making a 90s version, but I do plan on eventually updating the mod with gm 1.5 assets from the 1980s. It's just so manual and time-consuming to do it though so I may not ever get around to it, especially as I know few people interesting in playing it with me.

just realized how stupid that sounded, will there be a 90s version instead of 80s

It would require a new version of the scenario

Is there a way to play as DDR or Poland?

@Raptor341, yes but the mission must be launched in a hosted multiplayer server. You can certainly play it by yourself.

Does this work SP?
