Jewish Estates Lite

Description

Ever had to take out a student loan? Ever wait in line for a bagel? Ever seen a bad Adam Sandler movie?

The Jewish Estates Lite mod can help relieve stress for you.... Or make you feel like a decent person.

The early modern era, like the several before it, wasn't too kind to the Jewish population beyond intermittent safe havens like Poland. And despite the impact they made during this time, EU4 focuses very little on them.

To celebrate the Jewish Estates mod's official release (all bugs have been fixed and modifiers polished) I am releasing what is essentially the same mod minus the buildings and a couple gfx changes - making this mod 100% compatible with other mods (even other estate changing mods)! The following features are included:
  • 1 New Estate (and 5 privileges)
  • 32 New -historical- Events
  • 1 New Disaster
  • 3 New Decisions

(More will be added over time)

And yes, this mod can be used to become a Jewish nation through certain conditions.

No, this mod is not Ironman Compatible however,...

This mod is compatible with all other mods!

Several times I have searched for a Eu4 modding discord server where people could go and ask for help or get feed back without waiting in the Paradox Forums. So, I made this server. Feel free to join if you're having modding problems, hopefully we (anyone in the server) will have a solution. Press the image for the link!

*Notice* some events use wikipedia entries as descriptions. I did NOT write those such ones.

Does this still work? I switched to several countries and I don't see the estate anymore.

that makes sense, i'm currently using a tweaked version of a mod that already alters almost every country history file, so i just cracked it open and added

change_estate_land_share = {
estate = jewish_estate
share = -25
}

in the file, it seems the game likes to give your estate around 30% land share at start in almost every instance, so that puts them about on par with the way the burghers start out on most countries, for countries with particularly large/influential jewish minorities i put it at -20, and for poland and theodoro (khazar meme lol) i put it at -15.

But, If I was to do it for this mod I would instead do it through some sort of event though so that it wouldn't impact any mods using those files.

Ah i see, I thought you were refering to the province history. That makes more sense.

It used to be that each individual province could be assigned an estate at game start, and that was indeed in the province history, but what I mean is that now it's in the country history, the game now has a "default" distribution (that I think depends on initial gov reform and religion) on how the estates start off, but you can further tweak them in the history files, for example, castile starts off with 10% more Noble land and 10% less church land than other Feudal Catholics, it's in the very few lines of the history file, right after the whole "gov, cultures and religion" part

true I wouldn't be able to modifier history files for the lite version, but I am under the impression that after they changed how estates work (1.30?) they are no longer designated to provinces and therefor don't use the history files to change land_share. Ultimately however, unless it is is majorly negatively impacting the mod it should be fine to leave in (If it is I could certainly forcibly lower them all at the start of the game or something of that sort while keeping it compatibly... In theory).
ɌƗȻꝀŦɆɌ 4 Dec, 2020 @ 10:47pm
i don't think you could implement it on this version, since my guess is you tried to maximize compatibility, but starting land ownership is a history file shenanigan, especifically of the country, castile already starts with a lower than default normal church land share, so maybe that's why
drawjk12  [author] 4 Dec, 2020 @ 9:31pm
I don't think the estates (at least when the mod was made directly after that estates update) were completely compatible for modding. There were several aspects that I couldn't find a way to implement. One of those things is land ownership. I wasn't able to find a way to lower it at the start of games so most nations have high starting land ownership. This ownership should dwindle to a more reasonable level though as having high church influence inversely affects the jewish land share, and the ai very likely to support the church (and some other aspects that cause it to lower through time).
TLDR; nope.

any particular reason why castile starts of with 30% jewish land ownership but 0% church land share?
