Description


This is a small mod to detect and fix any stat point issues that might be caused by using the Respec Magic Mirror. There have been many bugs (some have been fixed, many have not) that can cause the player to generate additional points through certain actions inside the mirror.

Some would see this as a boon, but many find this undesirable because they wish to have a fair run without using exploited points (and many times the game will give you these points if you want them or not). This mod aims to fix these issues and make the magic mirror more reliable to use.

As of 7/27/2024, I have added support to make the mod play nice with Divinity Unleashed, but to get it to play nice and clean up scenarios with the Innate talents, I had to overwrite one of Unleashed's files, so this mod needs to load AFTER Unleashed to work properly in that combo.

This mod is powered by Norbyte's Script Extender, found HERE[github.com].

How it Works

When using the Magic Mirror, this mod will automatically detect the points you have going into the mirror, and then calculate the expected points you will have when exiting the mirror and compare it to what you actually end up with. If there are any discrepancies, it will try to auto correct down to the expected values by removing unspent points.

If you generate extra talent points (Usually happens when you have talents from items in specific cases), this mod will automatically remove the extra talent points (only unspent ones, but I don't know of a way to generate talent points and spend them at the same time in the mirror, the points always show up later).

Extra Features

Because Talents issues are one of the biggest reasons for making this mod, I have also added code that detects when you have an item talent vs when you have a learned talent, and if you equip an item that has a talent that you already had, it will automatically refund that talent point to you so that they don't overlap.

As of 8/13/2020, I have added further support for the Lone Wolf talent, which will detect when you become "Overcapped" in an Attribute/Ability when activating Lone Wolf. When this is detected, the excess points will automatically be refunded to you so that you can spend them elsewhere instead of losing them to the void.

Thanks for this mod.
Can you please make Lucy the Mirror Master not turn hostile and freak out if Fane takes off his helmet in Act 2 next to the Mirror for respec?
Lucy hates undead and goes insane if she sees an undead without a helmet, just like most civilians and ordinary people in the game.
When i respec characters in the Mirror i always take of all the gear so i can see more clearly what are my base stats/skills.

@bilibili 梅发怒Meifanu Hey, glad you enjoy the mods! If anything, I should be apologizing because I never took the time to learn how the localization stuff works properly to make it easy to localize my mods, I just made the easy methods which were pure english. Especially in some of the more complex mods, they require scripting in alot of the visible text like Fury of the Scorned, so that wouldn't be easily localizeable anyway (I'm sure there could be a way to do it and call a string, but I never learned how to do that). As long as you aren't claiming any monetization for the translated versions of my mods and are providing a link back to the originals as proper credit, I have no problem with it. I'm sorry that you had to put in extra work to localize the mods!

I wanted to let you know I've localized two of your mods into Simplified Chinese:

Malchezzar's Magic Mirror Fixes [DE]: Created a standalone localization patch.

Fury of the Scorned - A Tanking Overhaul [DE]: Due to technical limitations (especially script localization), I couldn’t make a standalone patch. I had to integrate the localization directly into the mod files, resulting in a repackaged version.

I sincerely apologize for this approach – it’s not ideal, but it was the only way to make the full localization work for Chinese players.


If you have any concerns about the repackaged version, just say the word and I’ll take it down immediately. No questions asked.

@Meifanu OAO I suppose I dont have a problem with it if you link back to this one in the description, if I had known how localization files work when I wrote it I would just say you could give me a localization file to drop into it, but I didn't and the only text you can actually see in this mod is via code popups.

please add a mod that removes the mirror for the challenge parties, there is no such mod in the workshop!

Hello can you help with academy boost? I pick +5 Memory, -5 Strength but when I use a mirror my +5 Memory boost is gone -5 Strength still there, I test other boots it still work, but only happen with Memmory, even +5 Finesse, -5 Memory when use mirror -5 Memory is gone and leave +5 Finesse boost with no downside.

@Это пиздец Technically, deleting the mirror is much easier than trying to fix it, if it becomes necessary I could easily add a version that would wipe the magic mirror from existence, I'll keep it in mind when I work on mods in the future.
