Vanilla | Survival | No Subgrids | No Scripts | No DLC


A pretty simple private vessel for all the space mavericks out there.


The S-20 is not very big, but still has almost everything you could need. The only things it's missing are a jump drive and a large refinery, they just did not want to fit. With 2 rocket launchers and 4 gatling turrets it has plenty of firepower for its size and can certainly compete with more combat oriented ships. It has a fully pressurized interior, an ore detector, all the assemblers, a basic refinery and O2/H2 generators.

Since it runs completely on hydrogen and can be built with very basic materials, you can refuel it almost everywhere and repair most ship systems. The only blocks you can't repair because of the lack of a large refinery are the gravity generator and the survival kit.

The ship has no subgrids, needs no scripts or DLCs and can easily be built on earth.
It can fly on all planets, needs about 7% hydrogen to get to space from earth and can safely lift around 150 t.

I tried to make it look as realistic as I could, I hope I somewhat succeded.
The biggest challenge when building this certainly was fitting everthing inside withouth ruining the outside.

Overall a good starter ship who's only flaw is the cockpit which is vulnerable, especially to assault cannons.

Looks good and functional with just a bit of panel work to make it more appealing to the average shopper. I'd like to try it out in my singleplayer survival game if you give permission, there'd be no re-publishing or tech theft, all credit to you which I think you've earned. I liked this ship but it was very fragile

This little thing can take a beating and keep on flying. It is fast enough you can buzz ground bases at range and take out the exterior guns pretty easy with minimal damage. I took out the jump drive for now as I can't build one yet and put in a few mods like nanobot build and repair, nanobot drill and fill. I put in a projector. So before I leave base I load supplies for repairs and this little devil can even do field repairs using basic materials from the survival kit. I also added a couple more o2/h2 generators to produce Hydrogen faster and the ship is good at resupplying it's own fuel.

This is my favorite ship so far
Tried to improve on it so many times, but besides changing the landing gear with two small Hydro tanks so the ship still functions if the large hydro is busted I have found little to nothing that I could improve. I also tried to make space for a jump drive, but its pretty much impossible without hurting the design

I did a bit of rework on a custom version of this. Added a transparent LCD at the front (not required), managed to get a programmable block in. Also smoothed off a couple of edges, and put a pair of oxygen farms and another couple of small cargo containers in where the yield/production modules were sitting (farms are there for longer haul survival). Dropped out the second survival kit for another small cargo container for outside cargo access. Also put a couple of armor plates protecting the exposed batteries.

Let me know if you're OK with me publishing it with attribution, and I'll send you the link so you can take a look if you want to merge some of the tweaks in.

One thing I can't find a good spot for is a repair projector :/ I really like having repair projectors on something that might get shot at. I also fiddled with having the turrets self-welded, which I could fit in, but I think that the oxygen farms fit the model of an all-in-one light survival personal ship better.

I didn't even know they had a different capacity on station lol
Btw, rule of thumb: one small hydro can lift 100 tons, a large one 700

Funny story:

I had issues trying to lay down a landing gear, it would only place upside down ()not sure why) so I could not use it. So I built the ship right off the grid for the station. Once I cut it lose it was fine. The thing I did not notice is the ship was still tagged as a station so all its cargo pods were station size. So I loaded it up with one cargo pod of ice. Need less to say that thing dropped like a meteor and cratered my landing pad.

I liked the design so much I am building another one. Still have the issue with the landing gear not placing right side up. Still building directly off the station, but this time will convert to ship before loading anything.
