1940 19ft Chris Craft Runabout 'Barrelback'

Description
The Runabouts of the early 20th century were beautifully hand made by only a hand full of companies world wide and were the fastest boats on the water for many years. Favored among celebrities and the middle class alike for their well made mahogany construction and simple operation these little wooden boats would form the base of what would become the recreational powerboat industry. This is my attempt at reproducing one of those types of boats, the 19ft Chris Craft Runabout or 'Barrelback' model year 1940.

It's pretty easy to use, just start her up and go, go, go!

Specs:
- Top Speed: 40mph (This is a realistic speed for one fitted with the 130HP engine)
- Range: Roughly 30KM

Notes:
  • Because of it's small size it might have ingested water upon spawning, so you might have to try starting the engine a few times before it will run.
  • There is no speedometer. At 770+/- RPM your doing 40mph.
  • The throttle is VERY sensitive, tap W/S quickly to make small adjustments to engine speed.
  • It's a fair weather pleasure boat, don't take her out when the skies are grey!
  • Moving from forward to reverse while still throttled up will stall the engine. Reduce the throttle to zero (hold 'S' for a second) then switch gears.

ENJOY!

This was made in response to MrNJersey's challenge to make a boat under 15M. I recommend checking out his Youtube channel; he provides professional, informative tutorials about Stormworks features, and videos highlighting some of the most clever and popular vehicles available for this game.

x170doom, FINALLY was able to duplicate what you've been talking about! The two wedge blocks in the back cockpit were causing the problem. Removed and replaced them, and that seems to have worked. Also added a catalytic converter, so it's a little less 'smokey' now. Take care!

x170doom, that is really weird, if I can't figure it out I'll re-upload it...sometimes that works.

I was spawning it at the creative island dock, every time it spawned it capsized before I could get on board

x170doom, well I gave it a test run just now and didn't have any issues. Where are you spawning it? Maybe I can duplicate your problem.

i think the devs may have changed something, because right now it capsises near instantly on spawning, possibly the modified xmls getting reset by an update? i'm not entirely sure since outwardly nothing seems wrong in the editor
