StrongDemocraticJapan

Description
This mod extends Japanese Focus Tree. Non-historical paths, which were kind of lame, were hugely expanded. The historical (fascist) path was also revised, which allows you to resurrect Qing or fight a cold war against Germany.

You'll be asked to get 2 more mods when subscribing StrongDemocraticJapan, but you don't really need them if you play it in English, so please ignore it.

# Common traits of every path

If you didn't choose an alliance with the Soviet Union, and the Soviets were beaten, you will have decisions to split up their territories, such as Outer Manchuria or Tuva.
During a war against the United States, you can force them a peace treaty once certain conditions are met.

# Democratic path (written by Chijan)

Attention: This path can only be played with the DLC Waking the Tiger.

Virtually the biggest revision was made to this path, and this path is probably the strongest in this mod. Instead of a civil war, you will get democratic Japan through a Balance of Power, having Machida Chuji as the leader. Emperor Hirohito will be brought back to the national spirit as it is in vanilla. Then, you will decide whether you will join the Allies or create your own faction (West Pacific Treaty Organisation).

## Common path in the democratic subtree

These national focuses are mainly about China and Russia. You may ally Chiang Kai-Shek and purge the warlords, or you may oppose him and democratise China. Afterwards, you will be fighting against the Soviet Union to split it up (1).

Your territory itself doesn't really expand in a democratic path, thus you'll suffer from a low number of factories in vanilla. However, in this mod, there is acute national focuses that grant you factories, and possibly even the 6th research slot (2).

Welcome the Jews to Manchuria (even though the conditions may be pretty tough)! By doing so, you can get the United States in your faction (3).

## Anglo-Japanese Alliance Path

You'll join the Allies. Receiving espionage and research buffs, you'll be fighting the Axis. Ultimately, you can resurrect Austro-Hungarian... oh no no, Danubian Federation (4).

## West Pacific Treaty Organisation Path

In HoI4, the democratic ideology restricts you from intervening in other countries, but this path removes all those restrictions. In addition, you can purchase colonies from the Brits, French, and Dutch.
However, some countries around the Pacific would fall into white supremacy (just as the UK and France deviate from democracy when Germany becomes democratic). You can deliver freedom to such countries, and even split up the United States (5).
When the United Kingdom is busy fighting the Germans, you can proceed with national focuses to get India independent. The relationship with the Brits temporarily goes to the worst, but all the parties ultimately make compromise, and you can get an independent, free India in your faction (6).

# Kodoha (neutrality) path (written by Chijan)

The national focus "Modern Shogunate" was removed since it doesn't match Kodoha ideologies. Instead, a lot of focuses are added, including those that aim to ally the Soviets. All the restrictions of intervention related to Neutrality ideology will be removed, you develop the Japanese mainland through industry focuses, and you will finally get factories from your puppets when completing "Fully Armed State" (7).

## Alliance with USSR

Respecting socialistic ideas of Kita Ikki, you concede Northern Manchuria to the Soviet Union to form alliance with them. Together you crush the Nazis. Afterwards, you can also fight the Allies (8).

## War against USSR

Vanilla Kodoha Path only allows you to ally Germany, but this mod enables you to join the Allies or ally the Poles as well. Buffs added will differ from path to path, but you will get the focuses to split up Russia or exploit their resources, just as in the democratic path (9).

# Toseiha (fascism) path (written by Woryok)

## Until the Pacific War

You can follow the historical path, namely, leave the Soviets and just focus on Southeast Asia. However, abandoning your navy buffs and refraining from invading Southeast Asia for a while, you can also fight the USSR to get vast Siberia. Even if you don't, you'll get Far-East Siberia when the Germans defeat them (10).

## After the war

Conquered China and secured Far-East Siberia? Take the focus "Manchu-Mongol Question"! This will fire an event, where you can possibly unify Manchukup and Mengukuo, or maybe resurrect Qing Empire (11).

## Collision with the Nazis

After the surrender of the UK, the US, and the Soviet Union, you'll rename the faction to "World Co-Prosperity Sphere", and oppose Germany. If you win the final war, you can set Otto von Habsburg as the German Kaiser (you'll need the DLC Death or Dishonor to see his face) (12).

# Communism path (written by Woryok)

Attention: This path can only be played with the DLC Waking the Tiger.

## Common path of communism subtree

This path in vanilla has several problems: the civil war is too difficult, the war goal somehow doesn't go away even after the civil war, and you have to either expel or execute the Imperial Family. Why not treat them as just civilians, like the CCP did to Puyi? This mod fixes all those problems. You can also automatically grant independence to your colonies, after which you'll choose a faction and expand.
You'll defeat Chiang Kai-Shek with the CCP, then you'll get to choose whether to unify China or liberate ethnic minorities. After that, you can form Asian Union, where you'll core all Asia in return of a huge amount of political power (13).
You can also invade Southeast Asia and the US (14).

## Comintern Path

Cooperate with the USSR, and defeat European fascists. When Comintern conquers Europe, you can form European Commune (EC). Split up the Eurasian Continent with the EC, the USSR, and Asian Union (15).

## Asian Communist Solidarity Path

This is possibly the most difficult path. You will fight the Soviet Union, so basically all the countries around you are enemies. However, if you defeat all of them, you can achieve the biggest realm of the Asian Union (16).

# Notes

Countries that appear when splitting up the Soviet Union are from the mod Puppeting the USSR (no new state).
Those of the United States are from the mod Empire of Japan.

@Touhukas Found out the reason. The bug is due to the "required" MOD called "Additional Japanese map fonts". Remove the MOD and restart the game, and you'll be fine. If problems persist, let us know.

@M1ch1gan Historically, yes. But in this MOD's Japan democratisation route, the US will go full fascist and they start to imprison Japanese very early on.
