Bolt Action - 28mm Americans (Correctly Scaled)

Description
THESE MODELS (except my custom Order Dice) ARE UPLOADED WITH PERMISSION FROM THEIR ORIGINAL CREATORS IN A CORRECTLY SCALED 28MM FORM:
  • Lazyboy, who originally bought, imported, and arranged the infantry, crew, and base models from Polygon Blacksmith.
  • Baryonyx, who imported and arranged the vehicles and artillery pieces.
  • rajibkc, creator of the Ford GPW "Jeep" model: https://skfb.ly/6VqDK

This mod is a collection of models that already exist on the Steam Workshop that have been correctly scaled to 1/56th (aka 28mm) scale, and is designed for use with Bolt Action and other WWII games in that scale. The smallest infantry bases are 1" in diameter, as required by the game, and the height of completely upright infantry is 28mm from their feet to their eyes.

Using correctly scaled models should result in more balanced and fun games. Having correctly scaled vehicles in particular is very handy.

Included are over 50 different infantry models, separated into the US Army, US Airborne, and US Marine Corps (USMC), 2 artillery pieces (there aren't that many available on the workshop) and a whopping 30 vehicles (including USMC and winter variants) with modelled crew where possible!

This mod serves as a 'remastering' of Lazyboy's work, with use of Baryonyx's extensive WWII vehicle and artillery catalogue. There are several changes and additions to this collection, which are listed as follows:
  • All weapons, vehicles, and other models are accurately scaled to 1/56 scale and named as accurately as possible.
  • The new combine tool makes copying infantry much easier, as they stick to their base, while also being better optimised.
  • Some vehicles (mostly open-topped vehicles) have American drivers, machine gunners, and even mortarmen modelled and joined onto the vehicle for added flavour!
  • Artillery pieces have the correct number of crew for their matching army book entries.
  • Includes my correctly-numbered Bolt Action order dice!

This is the second of Lazyboy's armies that I've done. There's a distinct lack of US artillery on the workshop, but luckily there are a lot of tanks - Shermans, mainly.

Please let me know if any vehicles, weapons, or artillery seem wrongly-scaled or misidentified - with so many things to keep track of, I may have made a mistake along the line. Do keep in mind that 28mm heroic figures always look slightly big next to 1/56 vehicles (Polygon Blacksmith's models are similar in proportion and style to Warlord's real-life Bolt Action range, so this was done to fit in with the 'original' as it were).

Please fix, right now is the best BA assets collection

That's really helpful, RobotSpark, thanks! I'd been wrestling with getting a commander into a closed Sherman M4A3 and Panzer IV so will give this a try :)

There are different ways to do it, but I often did it one of two ways:

1. Lock both the vehicle and infantry model.

2. Use the movement gizmo to slide the infantry model into the vehicle.

3. Use the attach tool to attach the infantry model to the vehicle.

With some vehicles, especially ones with closed cabs, the collision of the vehicle can prevent you from accessing the infantry model, so I had to follow a separate procedure to do those sorts of vehicles:

1. Copy the vehicle so you have a spare.

2. Set the collision value for one of the vehicle copies to this small collider: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tf36npbn8wln5oq/BallColliderSmall.obj?dl=1

3. Repeat the previous procedure. Note that it will be hard to find the centre of the vehicle, but drag-selecting can help you pin down where it is exactly.

4. Once the infantry model is joint to the vehicle, set the collision model to its original value (copied from the duplicate vehicle)

Hope that helps!

Hi, how did you (if it was you) place the crews within the vehicles?

Really great work – and love the vehicle crews :)
