Description
7 slot mid-to-late game destroyer. $1.9m credits, 176k trinium, and 38k iron to construct. Crews a minimum of 39 engineers and 47 mechanics.

53k hull HP. 133k shield HP. 665 cargo capacity. 12 sector jump range. 12 launchers and capacity for 207 torpedoes.

This is how the Federation would build star ships in the Avorion-verse. Fast and maneuverable with a slim profile. No superfluous secondary hull. No absurd, thin pylons. No bridge like a bullseye.

This starship is built more like a modern naval destroyer. The top and the bottom of the saucer function as gun decks, with a dozen launch tubes to overwhelm point defense.

If you're flying her on your own, go ahead and load up on the dorsal turret mounts. If she's under the command of an AI captain, you'll want to arm both the dorsal and ventral mounts so the vessel always has a valid firing angle.

Point defense mounts are towards the rear of the gun decks, and she's intended to have 4 to stave off enemy torpedoes.

The Challenger class can solo most sectors in trinium space, but could use a bit of backup in the xanion sectors, or on the other side of the barrier.

@QuicksilverJPR. Exactly. Hence this model, which is attempting to be more serviceable - while still not turning into a space log or space wedge.

Actually most of them are good to go still. A few tweaks here and there, but really most of them are still more than capable. It's not the easiest to make a good starship from that genre that maneuvers well and looks good, as you well know.

@QuicksilverJPR. How do some of the older ships hold up? Some of them were built on older versions of the game - and the physics have been tweaked since then.

I like all your ST designs. I'm basically building a fleet of all them. I've even gotten to re-fitting some of your older TOS designs into newer tech and keeping them active. It's been a lot of fun!

Loving this, Duty. That thing looks mean as hell.
