When the United Earth Directorate developed the Reclumera for rapid troop transport, it was apparent that there was a need for a air superiority fleet in order to provide escort. The Raven, while effective, proved to be resource intensive and did not fit the bill quite like the UED desired. Upon being assigned the task of producing a lightweight, inexpensive, yet effective fighter to compliment the Reclumera, the UED's design team used parts already incorporated into the Reclumera. By simply taking the secondary cockpit, core, shield, and overall frame from the Reclumera, the Spider Bite was designed to not only be able to support the Reclumera in combat, but to serve as a source of spare parts should the Reclumera take extensive damage stranding ground troops.
