Faster Crew Leveling

Description
Status for 7.60 and 8.0: still working

What it is
A very experimental and simple boost to level up rates for most crew skills.

This mod aims to be a simple alternative to seminar mods and increased crew level mods.

Skills should level up a LOT faster compared to vanilla, probably to the point of almost cheating. Any and all values are subject to change at any time depending on feedback or which side of the bed I wake up on.

I'll maintain this mod as long as there's a demand or until a better alternative is available either from other modders or egosoft themselves.

Changes in more specifics
  • The chance of gaining a skill level has been massively increased for most activities. It was next to zero in vanilla.

  • Piloting, management and morale hard caps have been removed entirely. Even a bad trader can theoretically now reach 5 stars.

  • Morale rate for service crew is now the same as for pilots.

  • Engineering and boarding rates remain unchanged.

  • Most likely very unbalanced right now.

Answers to common questions
How do I activate it?
It activates automatically after you install it.

Will this work on old saves?
Yes! And new games too!

Is it safe to uninstall?
Yup! This mod will not mess with your saves!

Patch X.XX broke your mod!!!!
No it didn't. :) I run in-game tests every patch release, and every patch release the mod has still been working as intended.

Tips for leveling new crews
  • Use S-class miners or traders for leveling, like Couriers or similar. They level up a LOT faster than M-class ships.
  • Always fly with a co-pilot! The co-pilot of the ship you're flying will gain levels when you do stuff.

@ChaosSeed I hear you, but the leveling system in this game is so complicated, obtuse and conditional that it is hard to give numbers that would be representative of what you'll actually see in-game.

What I CAN say is that this mod is more tuned towards early to midgame, meaning the intention is that you should see steady results from micro gameplay. The side effect is that once you hit lategame where it's mostly macro gameplay, automation and 100s or 1000s of ships in your fleet with multiple efficient trade stations, leveling gets trivialised.

Last time I played with the mod enabled I always had 4 star pilots or higher I could supply my destroyers with because of the sheer number of miners and traders I had that were working nonstop.

If you want something slower, go for esch1lus version, you can find it in the mod description.

need to use raw numbers instead of just saying leveling is ALOT faster... like 2x or 5x faster? leveling seems to take ages, but i dont want all my pilots lvl 5 in everything in just an hour.

Great mod, but one question, maybe I'm blind. Does other factions AI also benefits from this mod or only the player?

Thank you so much for fixing one of X4s biggest flaws.

Thanks for the mod. I just started playing and was not a fan of the crazy grind to get competent employees.

Is it working on the new beta? (Amazing work, by the way. Thank you so much!)

Does this effect boarding skill gain at all?

Their mod page does explain the differences between their mod and this mod (and also Learning All The Things), so I figured I need not repeat themselves.

@Vectorial1024 No worries but you should probably mention how it's different. It does the exact same thing as this mod, just with slower leveling. It's somewhere between this mod and vanilla, and there's certainly interest for that.

Also, the mods are incompatible. Use either this mod or that one.
