Liberty Floatplane

The Liberty is a bush plane conversion that uses floats with retractable landing gear to be amphibious. It is a great general aviation plane to use, and can assist in SAR operations. It can even conduct its own rescues with tandem seat configuration.


The Liberty uses a small, very efficient engine. This has the side effect of causing long takeoff runs, which requires taxing to a runway to take off.

To Start:
-Turn on main power
-Land:
-Extend Gear
-Water:
-Leave gear up
-Flip engine switch
-Throttle up slowly with 1 and 2

To Takeoff (Land):
-After start, taxi to takeoff position
-Power up to full and pitch up until rotate

To Takeoff (Water):
-After start, taxi to best position for takeoff, deep and long
-Power up to full and let plane accelerate until it is gliding across surface, then pitch up


To Land:
-Power down to 60-70%
-Approach with ample space to make adjustments, turns are slow
-DO NOT approach too steep, for on land the floats will catch the ground and on water the plane will swamp

To Shutdown:
-Drop throttle to idle
-Turn off engine
-Power off main power




-Do not open gear in water
-Watch for low clearance beneath floats on land
-Do not get your head chopped off by the prop
