Homusubi's Shikoku (Sakamoto Ryoma) (CBRX Edition)

Shikoku ('four-country'), the medium-sized island stretching between Kansai and Kyushu in western Japan and shaped rather like a cartoon dog biscuit, has a name that officially refers to the four traditional provinces (some of the few which had their boundaries perfectly preserved when they were made prefectures) that can be found there, but you'd be forgiven for thinking that the name is read as 'land number four'. It is, of course, Japan's fourth-largest island, the smallest of the big ones, and it is often seen as just that. Few tourists make it to Shikoku. But that does not mean that this strange, semi-isolated island is any less fascinating than the rest of the country.

NOTES ON THIS VERSION

This Shikoku civ was originally released as part of my Rising Sun collection of Japanese regional civilisations. Since then, it was used in the Civ Battle Royale X, for which it required a new and more complex Unique Ability. For that reason, I have decided to re-release Shikoku in its CBRX form, alongside the extra polish and mod support that was lacking from the original version. If you are using this mod alongside Rising Sun, the two versions of Shikoku can be differentiated through their long names: this one is "Empire of Shikoku", and the base one is "Sakamoto Domain".

This version of the mod is NOT compatible with Pouakai's Enlightenment Era due to conflicts over the Frigate unit and class. However, I have released a separate version which is for use with EE, which can be found here.

The AI, in its vanilla form, is unable to utilise the Jizamurai unit's ability to build and repair improvements. This is Firaxis's fault and can also be observed with the Roman Legion. This DLL mod from Whoward[www.picknmixmods.com] apparently fixes the issue.

UA - MANJIRO'S TRAVELS

Receive Science whenever a Shikoku unit first lands on a landmass which has never been visited by Shikoku units before.

UU - JIZAMURAI

Replaces the Pikeman. Unlike the regular Pikeman, can build Farm, Camp, and Plantation improvements, and repair pillaged improvements.

UU - KUROFUNE

Replaces the Frigate. Can attack units up to three hexes away, in the manner of the English Longbowman.
