Description
The Phorcys is a Navy training submarine that has been converted to a research vessel (fictional). It has been retrofitted to support science research on the ocean floor.

To Start: Simply go to the engineer station, turn on the fuel pump, and press the starter button for the "eng". Finally, clutch in at pilot seat.

Features:

1) Cruising speed 15 kts with a max speed of 45 kts (for a short periods).
2) Fully functioning fresh water and sewage system for crew comfort.
3) Access to ballast system and inside fuel tanks for inspections and service.
4) Emergency escape pod with supplies and heat!
5) Depth auto hold moving or maintaining position.
6) Compressed Oxygen (not real)
7) Range: 100+ km

Engineering:

1) Three separate charging systems.
2) Engine and generator parallel capabilities.
3) Able to operate propulsion systems from bridge or engine room as a redundancy.
4) Check out the bookshelf in the crew lounge for tech support.

Other features are multiple ECO modes for fuel and battery savings. Redundant systems for survivability and protection in the harshest conditions.

This was built to be realistic; no infinity generators, engines that work underwater or jet powered systems. Diesels above water and electric motors below water.

This submarine will outrun a Megalodon for a short distance if you have all three power systems (engine, generator, motor) engaged.

Additional Submarines Pictured are the CETO and SCYLLA, capable of connecting to the PHORCYS:

Thank you

@KillerWillBlanc_ Also, for longer trips, you will have to balance out the fuel tanks to make them even. This requires manipulation of the pressure valves (air supply from engine) and vent valves (located in AUX space) to include the cross-connect valve located on the fuel panel in the engine room. Balancing your tank levels and ballast pressure can be somewhat complex at first, but once you get the hang of it the submarine will behave appropriately. I made it so everything you see has a function, nothing was designed purely for aesthetics. Best of luck!

@KillerWillBlanc_ When surfaced, the ballast tank has pumps inside of it that will pull down the pressure to .03. This helps create a "vacuum" assisting when filling the ballast faster. You can manually control the vacuum pumps from the "AUX" space. The vacuum pumps will automatically shut off once the submarine is submerged, blow down ballast is turned on, vacuum pressure reaches .03, or the pumps are shut down manually. There is a gauge on the bridge indicating ballast pressure. Wait for it to pump down to .03 before attempting to fill the ballast tank.

how do I get the ballast tank pressure down?

@BladeVortex how long did it take you to get this low?

@BladeVortex: LOL, you can turn off the crush depth system in the sub. Key is located behind the sliding hatch in the med bay, FYI.

Excellent, thank you!
