Sonos Planet (updated)

Description
"This planet is quite different from many others, I personally like to see Drion in the sky and the rocky ring while on my mountain cabin". -Deep space traveler

Edit: Turns out the name I came up with for this planet is also the name of a company, said company is not exactly well known at all in my home country and well, happy accident I guess lol.

This is my first custom planet and it took me a few days to make, I tried to make it a place where I would personally like to live in.

Steps to spawn it:
1. In creative mode with admin permissions press shift f10, go to planets and select "Sonos"
2. Set the size to 120km and click on "Spawn" and place the planet where you wish it to be.
3. Now repeat step 1 but now select "Drion"
4. Set the size to 25km and click on "Spawn" and place it in a similar place as shown in the screenshots above, or if you want you can place it even closer or farther away than recommended.
5. The Sonos system is now ready!

Adding water, recommended but can be skipped if you want, will only work if you have installed Jakaria´s water mod.
1.Go to the surface of Sonos
2. Press enter and type /wcreate
3. After the water appears type /wradius 1.00401
4. Sonos now has lakes and an ocean
6. Repeat step 1 and 2 again but on Drion instead of Sonos
7. This time type /wradius 1.016
8.Enjoy the Sonos system with water!
(If you want a fully water-based planet check out my other planet, Aquaras!)

Sonos: 1G, basic resources, habitable, recommended spawn size 120km
Drion: 0.25G, basic resources, habitable, recommended spawn size 25km

Lore: Sonos is a 120km diameter planet, it used to be uninhabitable until a dwarf planet filled with organic compounds and ice smashed into it, effectively changing the atmosphere from a carbon dioxide one to a live sustaining oxygen rich one. This event left a huge crater and a ring system that can still be seen to date, after many impacts thanks to asteroids and comets on the planet, this crater slowly filled with water and became a small ocean, the planet is now filled with plant life and a few animals. A few thousand years after the impact the huge ring system started to form a moon called Drion, at 25km long, this moon has more biodiversity than Sonos and became a forest world. Intelligent life has not emerged here, there are too little animals and too many trees, some plants have even started to use oxygen and release co2 so the balance is maintained, Sono´s rings also make space travel really hard, since they are rocky any primitive rockets would get torn to shreds by them, but thankfully current space combat armor can take the hits intact, today the system has stayed away from any extinctions and both bodies continue thriving with mostly plant life, it is still unknown if intelligent life ever existed on Sonos, though a few anomalies in the surface seem to point to it, why they are gone is beyond current knowledge.

-Sonos and Drion have wind, Sonos has a wind speed of 1 and Drion of .80 (its a small forest moon so its more calm)

Weather:
-Sonos now has Rain in the Grasslands with a small chance of heavy thunderstorms, the thunderstorms have a 1 in 6 chance of happening and most of the time the weather will be clear with occasional calm rains. In the poles it usually snows with a 1 in 5 chance of a blizzard, The intermediate zone between the poles and the grasslands is usually calm, making it perfect for bases, although there is a chance of both snow, heavy snow, rain and heavy rain on those areas.

-Drion being a forest moon usually can have a green humid haze that shrouds the surface in darkness with usual calm rains and a small chance of heavy thunderstorms.

Hi capitan, I have a question. I'm currently creating a new SE scenario, which I'd like to make available to our community on a dedicated server once it's finished. I'd like to include your Sonos/Drion planet in this scenario, because they turned out pretty cool. I hereby request permission to use your planet and, if necessary, to modify it and to upload it to the workshop.

I like the Planet in general, but in my opinion the water bodies should be flat.

Very nice looking planet. I wish the Steam workshop had a better system for displaying good work cuz I've only just seen this and I check nearly every day.

Earth quakes huh? I am sure it is possible but I personally focus mostly on building ships and making planet mods. I dont know how exactly to make earth quakes happen, so at least for now I wont be trying to make one.

i have a question, could you possibly add earth-quake or planet quakes as a mod
capitan  [author] 5 Jul, 2020 @ 2:11pm
Thats weird, perhaps another mod interfering? I tested it multiple times with other mods and none changed the gravity, try it in a world without any other mods and if the problem persists then I will have to check it, because the gravity is literally the exact same code as an earth like so it should not do that.

Great looking planet, I added it to my Star System and the rings of Sonos are awesome from a distance. One issue: the gravity starting kicking in long before it showed up on my HUD, and this confused some of my autopilot scripts. I have no idea why this might be but just FYI.

also a quick tip, you can place Drion on the equator a bit farther away than the ring for a better view of Sonos from its surface, it also is more realistic.
