DE HIMEJI CASTLE

de_himeji_castle is a map created by me for the GameBanana 'Famous Landmarks' contest. I choose this castle based on high demand for asian themes by many people (not only on GameBanana but also outside of the contest) and therefor I decided to create this magnificent castle, of which I had never heard of its existence ever before (despite it being apparantly very famous).

Himeji Castle (姫路城 Himeji-jō?) is a hilltop Japanese castle complex located in Himeji, in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. The castle is regarded as the finest surviving example of prototypical Japanese castle architecture, comprising a network of 83 buildings with advanced defensive systems from the feudal period. The castle is frequently known as Hakuro-jō ("White Egret Castle") or Shirasagi-jō ("White Heron Castle") because of its brilliant white exterior and supposed resemblance to a bird taking flight.


Technical aspects

A CS:S version is currently under development.

The map currently has no detrimental errors or glitches and is fully optimized. It shouldn't crash any servers. Any problems related to performance/FPS, gameplay, flow or unresponsible things, please add those to the feedback thread on this workshop page. Many thanks!


Final Notes and License
==================

- The map has been built in a timespan of 35 days, including the creation of all textures, props and brushwork. No one else worked onto the map or models/materials, but I did get many ideas and suggestions!
- The map has been created to honour the magnificense of the Himeji Castle and the Japanese Culture. I do not intend any harm towards either the castle, its visitors or its inhabitants.
- The castle is publicly visitable in Himeji in Japan.
