HR Manage Employees, Auto Role
The first thing you need to do when you get to your building is to STOP the game and go to...
HR/Manage Employees, Select your character, Manage Role, and Auto Role...

You should always auto-role all your hires on day one of hiring them!
The reason for this is if you do not they will work with the skill they are not fully skilled in and produce poor quality. A lot of others think they want them to work on everything so we don't need to hire more; WRONG, why do I get only good or worst applications; they ask.

Yes; Auto Role is the key to great, outstanding results!
Once you have performed an auto role as you can see in the image you have equal skills in all three. This is key as these are the skills you will need to do contracts now and deals later on.

Tip: Your character with these is equivalent to two programmers, Designers, and one artist so when you need three programmers or designers just hire one of each.

Please note to stay away from any contracts or deals that require audio. By the time you get to deals, you will have had the opportunity to get training in audio.

Tip: I get training in audio after I have three stars in system and 2D. If needed later on you can hire a system, or audio designer with two stars in each.

Contracts...
Contracts:
**On day one select all bad and horrible contracts and put them on hold.

You should be able to do three contracts a day; possibly four if horrible or bad...

Please note: If you want to start an anti-virus application on day one as suggested then you should jump to the below for how to proceed with this... New Strategy

If you are using the rental reception suggested above you have a FREE server; rename it as "SCM Dev." Select the SCM Dev server on all future contracts!

♞**Never have a contract on hold for more than two months/days!

♞Continue doing contracts to outstanding in order to get three stars for Business Reputation!

UPDATE: if you select the building suggested it already has servers you can use, you cannot update them, only rename them!

Design scale:
Horrible all green,
Bad One-quarter pink,
Mediocre One-quarter white,
Good Full White

Development;

Horrible/Bad 35 - 45%
Bugs: 3 - 5

Mediocre/Good 65 - 75%
Bugs: 6 - 8

If they stop in the middle of doing bugs they are finished unless it's late and they are tired!

These will guarantee outstanding each time and help you quickly reach the three-star goal!

Tip: The goal is to quickly reach three stars for, the business reputation to be able to do deals!

Deals
Deals are a lot more lucrative than contracts and you are less hands-on to get them done.
You should select one of the following as your first deal; especially if you are going to do it on your own.
  • Office Software
  • 2D System
  • Antivirus

Make sure they are twenty-four months out. If you get lucky you may get two deals that are twelve months apart; if you do put the longer one on hold for five to six months to get a head start on the shorter one. You can make between forty to fifty thousand a month on two deals. Start small and build up to bigger better deals. Operating and game systems pay the best and also take the longest to complete. Always take them to the fourth iteration to keep increasing your reputation stars.

Tip; if you are starting to design your own software; get a deal that is over thirty-five months out. Put it on hold and start your design development. You should be able to put it on hold for six months and fund your own.

Tip: You can also use deals to train your teams in the beginning while also earning funds.

Tip: If you use development deals to train your programmers; always allow two to three months to debug so you can continue to raise your reputation

New Strategy for alpha 11.5.10...
Updated as stock purchases are no longer necessary...

♞New Strategy
The new strategy is to start your antivirus application as soon as day one provided you added and put all horrible and bad contracts on hold and have the added monies they provide you.

♞New Strategy UPDATE!
If you are up to alpha 11.7.54; My new suggestion is to start an OS with minimal features; the way to do this is to select just one for each and ensure you have no waste! User Account & Notifications, 3 years. Make sure you create a framework! This is the goal; to have a framework in 1985 so once you have researched 3D you can quickly put together a sequel with 3D and be first to market! It will also start getting you fans and a presence in OS!

Do only two contracts a day; raise to three priorities to get them done fast...
Bad or Horrible two a day.
Mediocre or good one a day.

You can work on your anti-virus every other day provided you add contracts at the end of the day to keep the money coming in. Put them on hold for one day, and do them on the day after you work on your application.

Three Stars Reached:
The time should be May/June 1981 without any setbacks with contracts...
Hire a receptionist
Market/Deals: Filter to Design only.

Tip: At this point, you can hire another designer Medium Salary, System - 2 Stars, 2D - 2 Stars; unless you want to do games in which case you will need audio.
You can select up to two deals that are about two years out more or a little less. Stay away from antivirus until you are almost finished with yours. Office Software and 2D are the best deals for your skills!
You can do games once you have the experience and a bigger team of three/four designers preferably two stars in each; system, 2D, Audio.

Starting an Antivirus application:
Click Advanced,
Select the SCM Dev Server,
Framework: New,
Name it AntiVirus FW 1.0 or your choice.

Disregard the **Expected Interest for now...

Design, Code, Prepare for Release...
Tip: Put your deals on hold for three months and concentrate on your antivirus app; you will continue to get paid for them while on hold. Make sure you at least complete the third iteration/White to keep your reputation/stars advancing...

Anti-Virus Design Complete;
Hire two medium-salary programmers...
One - Select System, System - 2D, two stars each
Two - Select System, System - Audio; two stars each; stay away from Lazy/Stress!!

Tip: You can also hire these three and do development deals while the design is in progress; this strategy will also serve to get them educated sooner for a stronger team. Remember to set your hours back to 7 AM - 3 PM, day team and night teams will be 4 PM - 11 PM, more on this later...

System Development:
You are looking to get to 100% for Code, and Art; review when you have reached 50/60% for both and do one iteration. You are looking for 9.7% or better to get outstanding!
Once you promote to beta testing, to de-bug; set a release date six to seven months out. Do the marketing press build every other month to start getting followers interested? Lease the basement room with two tables, add 2/3 printers, and start printing 50,000 prints, add two pallets and hire one courier for late-night pickup is fine.


Marketing team, The Night Before Release!

The day/night before you are to release the finished app.
Hire two service, marketing, medium salary with two stars.
Lease a room and create/set up a "Marketing am" team.

You will assign them to the market on release!
DO NOT assign a marketing budget when you set marketing.
If you do you have a bigger chance of failing if you do not leave it as an open budget!


Support team, Night before,
Also, hire two and set up a "Support am", and "Support pm" medium salary two stars, and assign them to support on release. Two to start should be enough; add as needed to ensure you do not start missing any tickets!

Tip: Hire medium support with two stars in system programming skills; they will also double as a porting team if they have system programming skills.

Tip: Never assign both support teams to a port/de-bug for fear of missing tickets

Port Application,
Once you release, port the app to all OS with 100,000, or more active users assign the core team to the port, and increase the porting priority to ten! You want to get this all into the market as soon as possible! Add the support team to help in getting it done sooner if they have system programming skills!

Tip: Look at team management and assign any programming development teams that have zero/no tasks.

If you are playing the latest release alpha 11.5.1 or newer it's best to follow this guide from here on in reference to 3D...

On to the big moneymaker, the year should be about 1984 or so. If it is 1983 start on a sequel to the Antivirus to keep your teams busy. As soon as you reach 1985 Hire Four Designers and create a 3D Design Team. Start a 3D application.

Update:
With the last Alpha 11.7 update you are no longer able to successfully create a 3D app. as there is no supporting OS for it! Switch to an RPG Game!

Tip: You want to be first to market with 3D to be successful; this will be your big money maker.

Continue to grow teams with the same strategy as follows...

Two Design teams, Two Game Dev Teams, with Artist; all Medium Salary,

Support:
Support am, Support pm, grow these to fifteen in a team for 24-hour coverage and best results.

Marketing:
Marketing-am, Marketing-pm, medium salary, grow these to ten in each team. Pre-Marketing is for am, Post Marketing is for the pm team

Add Leaders to all your teams as follows;
Programmers, HR, and Automation is best for movement to project management.
Design, HR, Socialization, Multitasking.

Tip: Three stars for HR, Automation, Socialization is important for leaders to successfully manage a project. once each team has completed an Outstanding/Great app. Switch them to project management. 👀SEE Link To PM Guide Below...


Service; Support and Marketing leaders, HR, Socialization, and Multitasking to start for the best results in these fields.

Tip: Add Socialization to all teams after they have reached their original required three stars.

Printers. Servers, Digital Distribution, Hosting
Printers: 🖨
Build a printer service and start printing for other companies.

Servers:
Hosting Service:
Start a Hosting service, you will get more takers later in the game year 2000 > your business reputation is key to success and being first to market in whatever you pursue.

Digital Distribution
Set up servers and Start a digital distribution; Star at 6% and slowly raise it; 8% or higher is the profitable level to achieve for this.

Most of all challenge yourself in different scenarios and have FUN!
Character, Hiring and Team Building...
Character setup for efficient Start:
Setting up your character for what is required at the start and preparing for the end game is important.


Skills
Leader and Service skills come into play later in the game; the important thing is to have specialization talents in them for when you do start training in them. Concentrate on the skill levels needed at the start!

Development:
A system, 2D skill is as important in the start as most apps. will require them evident by contracts, deals, and your first antivirus app.



Tip: Make Audio a priority when you go for education.

Leader:
HR is important to start the game and Automation when you start doing project management.



Tip: Hover over the stars to learn what each does and when they will be needed!

Service
Service, Marketing, and Support can be hired when needed after your first release.



Tip: Stop the game the night before you release, set these teams up; salaries, medium for marketing two stars, Medium for supporting two stars with programming skills also is helpful!

Hiring:
Spend money on hiring to get the best workers who require less training. Spend the money here so you don't need to spend it on education after a just good or bad release. ** Or Firing Anyone!



Update: Hire support with two stars with programming skills medium salary so they will also be able to handle porting. Another strategy is to look for programmers in 2 stars system/2D with support skills to fill in if you come across any

Team Building:
Systems and whatever other specializations are required all come into play when building a well-rounded team. My Strategy is to start with a character with the skills and specialization for success in the early game. Next is hiring the skills and specialization needed to get to outstanding!

Designer, System Audio is my first hire.
Two Stars in system, two stars in audio for the first hire,
mid-level lazy to stress.
I try to stay away from stress! Especially in the early game as a lot will be required from them and stressed just breakdown and stop working.



Tip: once you hire leaders and are into project management you can hire great talent with a little stress as the leaders will be in place to deal with it!

Tip; STOP! ** Do Not Fire Anyone without the funds and legal team in place to deal with a lawsuit!

@kabadahija, Antivirus comment?
Do you not see the consumer reach for my first antivirus? It was 1.1 mil. I made billions with that company on hard with my strategies which have advanced since then. I was MFG joysticks before anyone knew how to do it without the console.
I have never taken a loan, even on impossible difficulty.

@kabadahija, I agree the strategies are outdated for today's game. But they worked back in alpha and I quickly made money and advance to MFGing, I no longer make guides and graduated to videos...

Producing second pc OS without Network* ? I'm almost sure it will boost market recognition, since you will be only one to have, and you dont need to add any feature to it.

Very in-depth explanation of strategy. Question:
Why are you developing antivirus at all, before 85 ?
Why are you not producing your second pc OS without Network ?

Pro-Tip: Always start with either: Sim, Sport or Rts ? Why ? They are simple 2D games, you will choose starting one by available (latest) framework. It will boost development, and for design suggested are 2 designers only. They are much more profitable (I usually make at least 2M $ with my first game) and I don't worry about money and do stupid contracts ;)
Antivirus and Office software should be done last or not at all, since their profitability-development balance is way under any Game type.

@Karlito Marxismo, I would need more info. the difficulty, how many founders. You need to do as many contracts as you are able to do in two days or less in an effort to up your stars. quicker.. Look for my videos and view the first three/four in a season for more tips and how I do it and the time it takes...

As of May 1981 with only outstanding quality completed every day, I have 1 star. At this rate I'll hit 3 stars by the 90s. No idea what's wrong.

Just ignore what I said sorry. In the "Character Creation, Skills, Specializations, Start Location..." you have 'what' or 'how' but no 'why' but since it has been renewed in the last chapter it also explains why there. (besides the skills are different there then in the first chapter and it makes more sense to me).
