El Hijo del Fantasma fallowed in the footsteps of his father, El Fantasma, to become a luchador. El Hijo del Fantasma made his debut in the early 2000's, although he didn't begin to eork consistently until joining CMLL in 2008.

Fantasma's CMLL accolades included a World Middleweight Title as well as two World Trios Championships. He moved on to AAA in 2013.

His AAA debut was a surprise, and Fantasma joined up with other former CMLL stars in El Conejo. He held the AAA Fusion, Latin American, and World Cruiserweight Titles during his AAA run. In 2018, Fantasma lost a mask vs. mask match against L.A. Park and worked unmasked until his departure from AAA in 2019.

As part of the AAA roster, Fantasma also competed on Lucha Underground, working matches as King Cuerno and capturing the Gift of the Gods Championship in 2015.

Fantasma signed with WWE in August 2019 and reported to the WWE Performance Center shortly after.

Not long after winning the vacant NXT Cruiserweight Championship, Fantasma joined forces with masked men who had been attacking superstars in previous weeks before unmasking himself and revealing his new ring name, Santos Escobar.
