Oncology Department

Description

Department of Oncology (v1.0.8.0)
Compatibility Status: Mod is working as intended 9:12PM 29th August 2025 (AEST)
All DLC Ready - No Conflicts Detected

This mod requires the Community Resource Pack. I am a developer of this community resource so dont worry about issues. It helps my mod link with others (including my other department mods!) if you have those subscribed.

Adds a new Oncology department to the game.
Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.

What Does This Mod Add?
- 19 forms of cancer to the game.
- Total of 80 new diagnoses (this mod incorporates multiple stages and sub-types of a single type of cancer)(That's over 500hrs work!)
- New objects (Decorations and Furniture)

The mod also adds many new and relevant forms of treatment, examinations and symptoms, complete with custom icons and descriptions.

About this Mod
Oncology can be complicated and this mod tries to replicate this within the limits of this game. Due to this, it is recommended you have at least a histology lab and a CT or a MRI before building an Oncology department. This mod tries to focus on the many details about each cancer that is added so each diagnosis will average a little longer than others to actually work out. Treatments for oncology will generally require hospitalisation. To help prevent bedlock, Oncology only has a patient weighing of 30 percent (stock departments are 50 percent). This means Oncology will receive less patients overall than other departments.

Roadmap:
This mod is considered feature complete. It will be supported through bug fixes or if broken by game updates.
It will be revamped/redone if there are major game changes. I may occasionally add additional content but it is no longer a priority.

Compatibility
Locked In
- This mod may be difficult or impossible to remove from an existing save. Please consider starting a new game to see if you enjoy the mod first.

No reported issues with:
- Any Department Mod

Conflicts
Incompatible with HAO: Hospital All in One! - That mod has its own version of Oncology integrated into itself (my mods have no copyright, the author is welcome to do this).

Bedside Examinations (No DLC) by Butch
My mod will utilise this mod if they are installed but a workaround is required for Oncology to work correctly:
Please note, Bedside Examinations (NO DLC) changes many of the stock examinations, including making Biopsy a hospitalised exam instead of a clinic ordered one. In doing this, the exam is unfortunately locked to only stock departments. You will need to action this workaround for Oncology to order Biopsy exams if you are also using Bedside Examinations.
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/workshop/filedetails/discussion/1938136264/3194740641762141964/

The DLC version of Bedside Examinations does not have the above issue and no workaround is required.

Known Issues
- You may experience longer load times with this mod (starting up the game and loading into a save). This is pretty typical with mods (across all games) especially as they get bigger and if you are subscribed to many. This shouldn't affect performance when you are loaded in though.

Special thanks to Mac Hareng (Creator of Gynecology).
Without his help early on, this mod would of been 10x more difficult to develop.
Please be sure to check out his amazing mods too!

The Modding Community has been just as amazing, please be sure to check out their amazing and compatible department mods too:
- James (Creator of ENT)
- MoominLittlesocks (Creator of Sexual Health)
- Knabbel (Creator of Urology)

Oooh, I didn't realize that while the department isn't open, they can still perform the exams. Thank you loads

Hey @Patriredbird, https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?edit=true&id=3558540045 that should fix it for you. It'll be because the old exam is probably in use somewhere, if there are other exams also in use just let me know and I'll patch them into that patch mod so you can at least continue your save. Once you start a new save, you wont need to patch mod.

Hello, sorry to bother you. Ever since the mod update, I keep seeing this message when I try opening my recent saves: Invalid Database entry ID: EXM_SLP_UAS. I noticed you mentioned SLP in another comment. I am subscribed to quite a few mods, not the ones that conflict. I have never had an issue with your mod before, and in fact, I didn't even have an oncology department in that save yet. Is it just that the update has rendered my save obsolete? Thank you.

Finally posted a patch i've been working on for sometime, I've removed a lot of the old code from the mod which will help a tad with performance and while still not recommended, it will make no hints in diagnosis a lot better (no more duplicates). I still don't recommend that mod as 1 hidden exam in CRP is broken, but in no hints you can see it and while rare, might cause issues. Let me know if you have issues.

Hey @puufVR, no worries mate, To help you, I need the following information:
- Your mod list (which mods have you subscribed too?)
- Your Output Log
(located here: C:\Users\*NAME*\AppData\LocalLow\Oxymoron Games\Project Hospital\output_log.txt (this can tell me what went wrong, use https://pastebin.com/ to send it to me if need be)
- A screenshot of the problem (not required but it can really help)
Output log is argubly the most important, should help me see what is causing the problem. And the red errors say SLP or ONCO?

the game is kinda dead now but it just comes up with a bunch of red error messages, i have both subscribed

Oh okay! Thats interesting

The operating rooms are shared, so if none are available in the oncology operating area, they'll just use the next operating room available. Just how the game works unfortunately if this is what you mean.

Hey, for some reason there was a onoclogy surgery in my traumatology surgery room
