Designed early during the 20th century,the Chauchat-Sutter machine rifle was pushed into service due to France's lack of light machine guns.The weapon had a number of problems,the first being the open sided magazine,which made it relatively easy for the gun to jam due to mud and dirt getting inside.There were also problems with automatic fire,as sustaining it led to the barrel sleeve getting stuck as it suffered thermal expansion.Later on in the war,when combat became more mobile (mid-1918),the Chauchat showed it's potential as an squad automatic weapon,and full squads of Chauchat gunners were assembled with the intent of suppressing German fixed machine guns.After WW1,many other countries used them,including Poland,Belgium or Greece.During WW2,it was used again,even by the Germans.

The elevator doesn't go up if you open with little force (in theory), and since i didn't want the reload to take longer than it should, i decided to animate it that way

Ah, I see. It's a very minor thing anyways and pretty much all of your work in the WW2 Collection is top tier. Are you planning on updating the Lebel someday? It's already pretty good but I think it's missing a "pushing the elevator down when reloading" animation instead of it being already down... or maybe that's the way it works irl and I'm just an idiot.

It's the problem with world casings, their rotation depends on where you're facing so they don't align correctly always

I've noticed that the ejected casings clip a bit into the gun when firing.

Well they had to cut costs on everything, as the factory that made them was a bike factory. They also iirc were ask to make magazines with viewing holes

how did the creator of the chauchat decide that an open sided mag was a GOOD idea in combat where you are in dirt most of the time? how daft he was

In real life it's Ok, it's main disadvantage is the open magazine. In game, i think it's Ok. Fires quite slowly but kills in 2 hits, and reloads faster than other LMGs. It's main drawback is the RPM and the magazine size
