Lore:
The lands of the Ursine tribe are wooded and are characterized by bitter winters. The females of the tribe sleep and nurse the cubs while the males patrol the lands guarding it from enemies who would disturb their way of life. Urfsaar the proudest and the fiercest of the warriors was responsible for leading the ursine warriors.

During one winter which was especially harsh the tribe elders forbade the warriors from venturing out, reasoning that no enemy would brave the freezing cold to invade their homeland. Urfsaar who had heard of a growing evil in distant lands and rumors of beings with unnatural powers, did not agree with the elders reasoning and set out in defiance of his orders taking with him a small group of volunteers who decided to follow their leader.

With the coming of the first spring thaws the elders sent out a search party. After searching for days the search party found the warriors in the high mountain pass that was the only path through the mountain chain that formed an impenetrable wall in the north. The warriors were either dead or frozen and around them lay innumerable corpses of snow ghouls who inhabit the frozen waste lands further north. It seemed as if Urfsaar and his warriors had held the narrow mountain pass which prevented the ghouls from taking advantage of their superior numbers and attack from all sides. Urfsaar himself was found in a nearby cave his body withered from cold and hunger, at death’s door but his indomitable spirit keeping his soul earthbound.

The shaman of the ursine tribe used all his magic to save Urfsaar, but the body ravaged by battle and cold was incapable of containing his life force, so the shaman bound parts of it to the nearby icicles of the cave temporarily till Urfsaar recovered. The spell changed the very properties of the ice and it would not melt nor shatter. When Urfsaar recovered the clan presented him with a fur armor embedded with shards of the ice which once held his essence. Urfsaar wears it proudly this day as a reminder of his spirit’s victory over death itself.
