Have you ever wanted to play as a Lizard character, but ended up picking another option because the Lizard racial ability was lackluster? Have you ever wanted to play them as a Hydro or Geo mage, but the firebreath skill was completely worthless or detrimental to your build? Have you ever felt like the Lizard Racial was too weak compared to the utility of Blood Sacrifice or Encourage?

With Adaptive Lizards, you can now customize your Lizard Racial ability to be better suited for whatever build you are playing with, whether it be an elemental mage, a warrior, or a rogue.

This mod was made as a collaboration between Feenex and I. Feenex did most of the effects work and helped to brainstorm some of the skill ideas.

Switching Racial Skills

With Adaptive Lizards, each of your characters will be given a mod settings book after character creation (or when loading a save if you lose it or add it to an existing save). This book is written in Ancient Lizard script, and when read will allow the reader to learn the secrets of a Lizard House and change their racial ability's affinity. Only living Lizards can learn the secrets of this tome (sorry Undead Lizards).

Skill Variants

This mod adds new variants for Dragon Blaze and is fully compatible with Feenex's Battle Packs and Odin's magic school Overhauls (Compatible does NOT mean required!). All of these skills scale with level only, so you can use whichever one fits your needs.

Dragon Blaze

The base Lizard Racial ability that every lizard starts with, now also grants Fire Immunity for 1 turn.

If used with Odin's Pyro Overhaul, will increment Scorch stacks on targets hit.
(Note: You no longer need Odin's Pyro Lizard breath addon mod with Adaptive Lizards!)

Dragon Rend

Grants Water Immunity and Slipping Immunity for 1 turn, sets Chilled and leaves an Ice surface.

If used with Odin's Hydro Overhaul, will apply Hypothermia to Chilled and Frozen targets.

Dragon Drench

Grants Water Immunity for 1 turn, sets Wet and leaves a Water surface.

If used with Odin's Hydro Overhaul, will apply Drowning, along with Hypothermia to Chilled and Frozen targets.

Dragon Cure

Grants Water Immunity for 1 turn, sets regenerating on self, non-undead allies and undead enemies. Douses surfaces and leaves a Blessed Steam cloud.

Dragon Taint

Grants Earth Immunity for 1 turn, sets Poisoned and leaves a Poison surface.

If used with Odin's Geo Overhaul, will apply Spored to targets hit.

Dragon Binder

Grants Earth Immunity and Slowed Immunity for 1 turn, sets Slowed and leaves an Oil surface.

If used with Odin's Geo Overhaul, will apply Oiled to targets hit.

Dragon Bolt

Grants Air Immunity for 1 turn, sets Shocked and leaves steam clouds in its wake.

If used with Odin's Aero Overhaul, will apply Conductive to targets that are stunned or who become stunned from this skill.

Dragon Hemorrhage

Grants 20% lifesteal for 1 turn, sets Bleeding and leaves a Blood surface. If the target is already Bleeding, this skill will also apply Decaying.

Dragon Shade

Does Shadow damage and leaves Cursed Smoke clouds in its wake.

If used with Feenex's Battle Pack Expanded, will increase the user's rank of Insanity.

Dragon Shout

Does Physical damage, sets Knocked Down and clears surfaces in its wake.

Dragon Void

Grants Elemental Tolerance and slowed immunity for 1 turn and does Chaos damage.

Sets Elemental Sensitivity on Enemies hit and leaves a Cursed Oil surface and poison clouds in its wake.

Dragon Shroud

Does Corrosive damage (Physical Armour damage), applies Atrophy and leaves smoke clouds in its wake.

If used with Odin's Spectre Class, will apply Agony to targets hit.




Feenex's Battle Pack: Definitive Edition
Feenex's Battle Packs. The Expanded one has a Shadow damage dealing class called Shade, which was the inspiration for Dragon Shade.

@Sköll Drachen that would be very niche and I wouldn't want to add that as this mod is meant to be useable alongside vanilla, but luminary is also not compatible friendly for most things in the way he coded the light damage type, its actually shadow damage and gets converted weirdly so its not really useable from other mods' perspectives. It was created before custom damage types were a thing in the extender so its a mess of its own stuff.

@Racke that is because of the GM mode stuff tied on, its a base engine issue. There is a mod that fixes it that has been published separately, just load it after this, I'll add it to the description.
