2005 MLB Roster Mod

First off, I'd like to thank the devs for creating the best baseball simulation on the market. Now, how is this mod different from a newly created historical 2005 save file?

95-99% of the players are now on the correct team as of April 1, 2005. I made a few exceptions regarding very early April signings/releases and other roster issues. Also, many players now have a history.

Real injuries and contracts are now included (if a player with an unknown injury missed time at the start of the season, he's listed with either an unknown injury, or in XST (extended spring training), which is obviously only applicable for minor leaguers). As it relates to contracts, team finances have been improved upon, with almost all teams being given a financial boost to account for RL salary increases in 2006 and 2007.

Real coaches are added with ratings based upon what's listed in modern quickstarts for coaches that are included in the modern versions (many have been given a ratings boost (about 10-20 points in the applicable category) because many of those coaches appear to be baseball "lifers" and probably wouldn't have lasted as long as they did if they weren't any good).

The 2005 draft class has been removed from the starting rosters and re-imported as an actual draft class. It currently includes everyone who was drafted that year and signed, undrafted free agents (UDFA), and also even includes those who did not sign and were redrafted later. (Ex: Buster Posey, who was actually a HS pitcher in '05, but went to college, became a catcher, and was drafted in 2008) It does NOT contain those players who are not in the OOTP database, so if you insist on doing a 50 round draft as it existed back then, you're going to get about 10 rounds of fictional players. I have included a draft file in the import-export folder so the drafted and signed players go to their appropriate RL franchises. To use it on draft day (June 7, 2005), go to the draft area, click import draft result from csv file, click ok, then cancel, then ok, then cancel once again.

The deletion and re-importing of the 2005 draft class was my way of trying to stop the AI from releasing players who were still technically playing amateur ball during those few months at the start of the simulation. It also makes this seem like an actual, modern quickstart.

I've included in the QS folder the files necessary to import the 2006 draft class and International Free Agent signings for those who want "real" players as the game progresses. Unfortunately, the IFAs cannot yet be imported into the IFA area and revealed on July 2nd, so they are just regular free agents. On the plus side, about 95% of them played in 2006, so they don't belong in the international complex anyway.

The Venezuelan and Dominican Summer Leagues are included. All VSL teams have a full roster with real players, but there is an issue with a few DSL teams because BBRef has yet to include rosters for the 2005 season. I did enough research that allowed me to improvise a bit in order to fill out most DSL rosters, but a few fake players may need to be created for a few teams if you refuse to use ghost players. You may need to use ghost players until after the DSL season ends in mid-August anyway because the AI seems insistent upon using VSL/DSL players to fill out its Short Season A rosters, and I currently have the VSL season beginning in May like it did IRL. Also, if you have the box toggled for historical expansion and to maintain minor leagues, those leagues will be deleted after the 2005 season. By default, I have that option turned off, but it's your game, so you play it however.

FYI, I haven't tested this extensively beyond the 2005 season, so I have no idea how things play out beyond that. Also, as a final note, this is still technically a work in-progress. After eight-plus months of working on it, it's playable, but not yet as complete as I would like it to be, and I've reached a point where I need a few days off. Whatever. Enjoy.

P.S. I have the game/QS saved with AI roster moves turned off, so remember to click the button to allow moves again when you're checking your settings before starting.
