Description
>>> Compilation pack of all unit upgrade mods: click here

This is my first unit mod that affects one of the desert kingodms factions: Kush.
The Kushite Kingdom gets lots of unit upgrades that improve its army. I've also added a hoplite unit (formed by hellenic slaves) and elite pikemen.
Besides Kush, this unit pack also affects other african and desert factions.

Summary: The mod adds 2 new basic units for Kush, as well as 15 land unit upgrades and 16 naval upgrades to african factions.

New basic units
  • Slave hoplites (light hoplites)
  • Royal Kushite Pikemen (elite pikemen)

Unit Upgrades
  • Levy Spearmen -> Desert Spearmen
    Use javelins
  • Desert Spearmen -> Spear Infantry
Better armour, shield screen and anti cav ability, use javelins
  • Javelinmen -> Desert Wardens
    Slightly better
  • Tribesmen/Javi -> Desert Wardens
    Slightly better
  • Tribal Wardens -> Desert Horde
    Slightly better with more men
  • Swordsmen -> Aethiopean Sword Infantry
Slightly better and can form shield wall.
  • Nubian Spearmen -> Nubian Spear Infantry
Slightly better and can use cavalry counter tactics
  • (African) Archers -> Composite Bowmen
Use composite bows to receive more damage and range
  • Nubian Archers -> Nubian Composite Archers
Use composite bows to receive more damage and range
  • Kushite Archers -> Kushite Composite Archers
Use composite bows to receive more damage and range
  • African War Elephants -> Kushite Elephant Archers
Now with archers that have high accuracy
  • Shotel Warriors -> Shote Masters (Shotel Warriors stay available)
Much stronger but still weak armour
  • Leopard Warriors -> Mighty Leopards
Much stronger and able to use range attack
  • Slave Hoplites -> Kushite Hoplites
Stronger and better armour, a bit like standard greek hoplites
  • Desert Cavalry -> Desert Lancers
Like Desert Cavalry but as shock unit with more charge bonus
  • Armoured Desert Cavalry -> Armoured Desert Lancers
Like Armoured Desert Cavalry but as shock unit with more charge bonus
Garrisons are affected by unit upgrades.

Additionals

Upgrade them all!
This mod is part of Nordo's Unit Upgrade Pack. I've combined several unit mods for different factions and cultures to eastablish an upgrade system for basic units. If you're using this pack you don't need to subscribe here additionally, although it shouldn't lead to issues.

Compatibility
This mod works well with the base game and is not designed for complete overhauls. I don't use Radious or DEI so I cannot tell you if it's compatible or not but I guess it is not. However, in most cases there are no compatibility issues at all.

Unit Cards
I included vanilla 2d cards for the new units but I didn't spend much time for them. I really recommend to use NordoPic for 3D unit cards.

Language Support
Original is in English, of course. German players can use NordoGerman or take the strings from there to their UPC pack file.

More and more…
Feel free to check other mods I made or use. You can browse through my workshop or check out my Rome II collection of all the mods I use.

The issue with missing names and descriptions should be fixed now.

Fair enough! Thanks for trying! :)

Well, all strings are implemented correctly and should appear in game. This issue is not caused by the mod but by the game itself. Please contact the game support because I cannot help you here. But you are not the only user that has this issues using unit mods.

Thanks for the report, I'll investigate it.

Update: Just tried it, and it seems the units have no names or descriptions, at least in custom battle. I'm playing in English, btw.

Seems cool, Kush is one of my favorite factions, so I think I'll give this a shot for my next campaign!
Thanks for your work. :)
