Description
Introducing the HC-117 Stauros Heavy Cruiser!

This is the first ship of a collection of military ships I am planning to make. I'll add some more lore later on so it has more coherence.

"The HC-117 Stauros is the 117th ship of the Athena-class line of heavy cruisers, designed and produced by Asterstahl Dynamics as the mainstay of any military fleet, be it private or governmental.
Named after the ancient greek word for "stake" or "cross", the Stauros represents the most refined heavy cruiser variant amongst its 116 sisters, improving on the former iterations of the class such as the Chiron (which had notoriously poor-performing main guns) or the Paris (infamous for its abysmal lack of thrust).

In terms of armament, the Stauros boasts four 900mm main batteries, as well as an extensive point defense array comprised of both rocket and gatling turrets.

It is also fully pressurized survival ready, although its high cost in materials makes it accessible mainly to major factions.
The interior features a small hanger with welders, an armored cryobay and bridge with main turret control for five engineers, and reactor and jump drive rooms. Should the ship be boarded, there are several interior turrets that will keep the trespassers at bay until reinforcements arrive. The ship can jump at over 550km, should the need arise to flee when facing too important of a threat.

As for the armor, the ship is a tough nut to crack, however the captain should be carfeul not to expose the ship's underbelly, as it is made primarily out of light armor to reduce the weight and improve thrust.
This design has been tried and tested and has seen its fair share of success, as demonstrated by the suppression of the Kamari uprising in the Sirius system fifteen years ago.
Asterstahl Dynamics strives to provide the most efficient ship designs for a variety of purposes. With the Stauros, the objective was clear: firepower."

-Introduction of the HC-117 Stauros by Adrastos Doukas, CEO of Asterstahl dynamics, at the 10th SMM (Ship Manufacturer Meeting), 2310

And there you have it!

The ship can easily be converted to vanilla by simply removing the main gun turrets and replacing them by whatever thingamajigg you'd like.

If the design suits your tastes, be sure to leave a like and a comment!
On the contrary, if you find the design does not fit you, or notice blatant flaws, be sure to leave a comment as well! I value any constructive criticism I get, as it helps me refine my designs!
Thanks again for your time!

Yeah collections really help spread the love of older builds :)

Oh, I get it.
This is basically the next step for my ships to look better ^^
I'm currently experimenting on a new design I'll publish shortly, it should be a bit more refined than the ones I've made yet (in fact, I'm planning to make a collection)

I recommend the dirty or damaged skin since they both don't require DLC.
(there are still people out there that think it's expensive for some reason)

Damaged especially looks good on mechanical stuff, I like to use dark grey or black to get a really nice look out of it. Dirty (default) looks pretty good as armor plating. Interiors can always have a clean look if you fancy it; Since you generally won't have dust or rocks bouncing off it in there ;)

I knew I made it too big x) I'll try to focus on smaller ships in the future.
I'll try some stuff with skins to determine which one looks best, I get what you're saying about heay armor.
Thanks for the input! I'm eagerly awaiting your next ships ^^

My PC quite simply cannot handle this, so I can't say I played around with it.

My only gripe is the clean heavy armor and paints. Clean heavy armor makes it look very "plastic" and gives it a very "I built this in alpha" look to it. The only other critque I have is that the purple around the edges look really odd due to the nature of no diagnol paint.. Granted it isn't possible in this game, but there are methods to get this effect without having that look. There is a lot going on with this ship which makes it really nice nonetheless :)
