Deployment formation mod

Description
Simple mod which changes 5 + 1 deployment formation to 3 + 3 and pushes back starting deployment zone 1-2 tiles behind original position, so in most cases enemy will not be able attack in the first turn, giving time to rearrange units

You define the formation for each stack in the world map or when you enter manual combat? Means can u use it for auto combat to put archers caster behind for protection for example ?

I've been doing my own modding on the TC_AoW_Core file: for my modded file I use a singe line of two groups of three units in a double chevron file set back a hex from the original deployment line. I also modified the formations for when a group has enemy armies on their flank(s). I also modded the formations used for fortress/town defense so that units star off deployed on the walls from the start. So far the results in my test game are quite promising; the new field formation enables units to deploy in a number of ways while avoiding the problem of bringing up the rear unit in the stock deployment. BTW when I get the chance, I'll make some photos showing the new formations.

Very interesting indeed, nice catch. Will have a look at it too :-)

So I downloaded the mod for a new game. I like the new formation because it promotes more tactical flexibility. However, I noticed that in most cases, the rear units are sitting on the exit tiles.
In a manual battle, this is no problem but when I use Autoresolve, I'm noticing that more often, units are forced to retreat out of the battlefield. I suggest moving the rear units up a hex shift the left rear unit a hex to the left front, the right rear unit a hex to the right front and the center rear unit behind the center front. This way, you preserve tactical flexibility, enable the rear units to come up faster and avoid unwanted exits.

Interesting: what .rpk files were changed? This looks like something I'd like to do in my personal mod.
